Primary Purpose

Lead a regional transmission planning team with a focus on analysis and development of projects for reliable integration of large transmission load requests in multiple Exelon transmission zones. Coordinate with the Economic & Technical Studies, Regional Planning, and Strategy & Contract teams to analyze the system and to generate an outlook for the transmission system including aspects related to safety, reliability, economics, operability and NERC compliance, etc. The study results provided by the team and other analytical expertise will aid the Exelon Utilities organization in the implementation of strategic projects. Primary job responsibilities include overseeing the modeling and analysis of large transmission load requests, creating new transmission projects, running a comprehensive set of stead-state load flow analysis, coordinating and confirming results with internal and external entities (ISO, RF, etc.), fostering and maintaining an environment that promotes safety, diversity, high productivity and environmental stewardship. Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies

Note: This is a hybrid position (in-office with remote flexibility). Employees are required to be in office at least three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). This position must sit out of our Oakbrook Terrace

  • IL office. This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.

Primary Duties

  • Lead engineering team, promoting high performance, diversity, and business unit objectives
  • Oversee various annual and ad-hock steady-state load flow studies relevant to ISO/RF/FERC processes or requests
  • Oversee steady-state load flow studies relevant to local transmission concerns and new transmission interconnections
  • Oversees various transmission modeling maintenance for use in local and regional transmission reliability studies
  • Coordinate and develop new initiatives or prioritization of initiatives along with other Transmission Strategy groups
  • Oversee NERC compliance efforts in related transmission planning activities
  • Identify new analysis or technologies to improve efficiency
  • Provide input into performance reviews/evaluation

Job Scope

  • Manage a staff of 4-10 direct reports (variation in total directs based on Company requirements) and provide leadership for the regional transmission planning team.
  • Oversee regional transmission planning initiatives to support new business and generator transmission interconnections.
  • Provide technical oversight and ownership of processes that support the project development, interregional analysis and interconnection studies.
  • Ensure work, and processes are aligned to achieve performance targets most effectively.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or other technical discipline
  • 7-10 years of industry experience in various engineering or operations areas.
  • Experience with analytical tools such as PSS/E, TARA, PROBE, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of business drivers and system requirements and investment strategy to balance short and long-term system performance.
  • Self-initiator with proven strategic talent.
  • Requires leadership ability in a high-performance culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to performance long range planning and strategy, build consensus, establish trust, communicate effectively, foster culture change and balance multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement process enhancements and efficiencies including technology and performance.
  • Demonstrated business acumen, customer awareness and ability to create value.
  • In lieu of degree, 9-12 years of relevant experience.

  • Education Graduate degree or Graduate level work in Business Administration or Engineering Graduate
  • Degree
  • Electric power industry background in the design, operation, construction, maintenance and troubleshooting of transmission & substation equipment and systems.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience.

  • Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $136,000.00/Yr. – $187,000.00/Yr.
