COMMUNICATIONS
What We Do
The Epic Communications team advances the company’s narrative and represents Epic products and the company vision to external and internal audiences globally. We create positive relationships and engagement strategies with a wide range of audiences, including media, investors, influencers, and policymakers.
What You'll Do
The Communications Director will lead communications strategy and execution for Epic’s first-party games, including Fortnite and future product releases, playing a pivotal role in shaping how our games show up in the market, resonate with player communities, and influence broader perception of Epic’s ecosystem. You will oversee day to day communications for some of the most dynamic live-service products in interactive entertainment focusing on proactive storytelling, community engagement, and rapid response reputation management. You’ll partner closely with Consumer, Product, and Engineering leaders to craft narratives that build awareness for Epic’s games with consumers and translate complex topics into compelling stories for players.
In this role, you will

Lead communications strategy and execution for our suite of first party games

Manage a high volume of live-service communications, including high-volume beats, patch/season cycles, new releases, and unplanned issues

Develop integrated communications plan that bring proactive awareness, community engagement, and reactive response under a consistent strategy and execution plan

Partner closely with product, publishing, engineering, and community teams to deeply understanding upcoming updates and translate them into clear natives for players and public media

Oversee reputation and crisis management across game updates, live events, and player sentiment

Mentor and guide a small, high performing team of communications professionals
What we're looking for
-
8+ years of experience in Communications, ideally within consumer technology, gaming, or other complex multi product environments

Passion for Fortnite, gaming culture, and the future of entertainment, paired with experience in tech product communications

Proven success leading communications for live-service, community-driven, or fandom-based products with highly engaged user bases

Someone who can rapidly intake new information and provide clear, strategic recommendations both proactively and reactively

Strong instinct for rapid response and captaining crisis management with demonstrated ability to handle evolving situations simultaneously and a fast paced environment
-
Deep fluency in internet culture, fandom behavior, and social/community dynamics

A succinct and creative writer
This role is open to multiple locations across the US (including CA, NYC, & WA).
Pay Transparency Information
The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).
New York City Base Pay Range**$174,579—$256,049 USDCalifornia Base Pay Range$160,031—$234,711 USDWashington Base Pay Range$145,482—$213,374 USD**
