Job Description
The purpose of this job is to provide solutions in direct support of Empower’s data strategy. Developing AWS, and on-premises data stores, deliver high quality, efficient and performant data patterns for consumption by various data warehouses, data marts and BI environments. Proficiency in Python, ETL methodologies, SQL, Big Data solutions and streaming frameworks/APIs is critical for success.
Job Posting Description:
Lead (technically) a team of software engineers
Design, code, and test software features and components including big data and API technology stacks
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and refine software requirements.
Spearhead coding efforts for specific modules or features.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues.
Participate in code reviews and enforce coding standards.
Contribute to architectural decisions and design discussions.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
8+ years of software development experience in a Data related field.

6+ years programming experience, proficiency in ETL development and design using Python, Big Data (Hadoop/SPARK)
-
Proven full stack development experience and in-depth, hands-on experience of AWS cloud platforms (S3, EMR, Lambda, Step Function, Event Bridge, etc.) and DevOps practices (CI/CD, GitHub, Jenkins, etc.).

Strong experience with Oracle data warehouse and SAP Business Object Data Services (BODS) ETL and Tableau reporting.
-
Strong SQL knowledge, RDBMS experience on any recognized database (Aurora, MySQL, Postgres, Redshift, Aurora).
-
Strong understanding of dimensional model and ER designs.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-
SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) and Agile Methodology.
-
Exposure to Data Warehouse principles.
-
Collaborate with colleagues regarding development best practices and/or data application issues.
-
Advises and works on strategic initiatives to mitigate and/or alleviate core data application issues, including opportunities for process automation.
-
Operates independently with some latitude for un-reviewed actions or decisions. Completes other duties as assigned.
OTHER PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

4 years IT in financial or other highly regulated industry

Experience with APIs and streaming frameworks (Kinesis/Kafka.

Use of JIRA in Agile development.

Communicate in a friendly and professional manner with customers and colleagues remain calm in stressful situations independently troubleshoot program errors regardless of technology, write user-friendly explanations of highly technical functionality.

Possess advanced knowledge and understanding of procedural programming, relational database design, multi-tier system architecture.
