Scientific Experts have special needs for in-depth and cutting edge information, because these health care professionals design and implement novel research and educate colleagues/students. The Medical Science Liaison program is specifically designed to meet the needs of Scientific Experts through a field-based group of medical professionals with deep content knowledge about specific disease areas, available products /investigational compounds (both Lilly and competitor), and current issues in the therapeutic area(s) they represent. Medical Science Liaisons also gather feedback and insights from Scientific Experts, to better inform Lilly's research and overall strategic direction. By providing answers that matter and facilitating scientific exchange between industry and the Scientific Expert community, Medical Science Liaisons have the opportunity to improve patient outcomes by providing needed information that addresses important clinical and scientific questions.
The Medical Science Liaison Manager is responsible for effective and compliant implementation of the Medical Science Liaison program within one or more assigned therapeutic areas and has direct supervisory responsibility for a team of fieldbased Medical Science Liaisons who represent a specific regional area, therapeutic area component, or other segment of the overall Medical Science Liaison program. The Medical Science Liaison Manager is responsible for managing the performance and development of the members of their team, overseeing the compliance, quality and effectiveness of field operations, and implementing strategic plans to optimize the team's performance. The Medical Science Liaison Manager is also responsible for establishing and maintaining effective communication and partnerships with field medical and internal colleagues in order to leverage the team's expertise to appropriately support strategic objectives and initiatives.
