About the team and the role:

As part of e Bay’s Global Privacy Compliance, AI & Data Governance Team, the Privacy Program & Compliance Manager/Counsel plays a key role in ensuring our global operations and privacy program meet evolving global privacy, AI, and data protection requirements. Reporting to the Director of Privacy Program and the Office of the Data Protection Officer (DPO), this role supports developing and overseeing e Bay’s privacy compliance framework. The focus includes compliance and risk assessments, monitoring, and DPO support. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to strengthen privacy accountability and contribute to global initiatives in a team that values innovation, balance, and collaboration.

What you will accomplish:

  • Conduct global privacy compliance assessments, including Privacy Risk Assessments (PRAs) and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), covering the collection, use and disclosure of personal data.
  • Support the Office of the DPO by assisting with or leading the review and resolution of privacy inquiries from users and employees.
  • Maintain and improve e Bay’s Records of Processing Activities (ROPAs) by partnering with teams to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with evolving legal requirements.
  • Strengthen oversight activities by helping build and complete monitoring, compliance testing, and reporting that support global accountability frameworks, including e Bay’s Binding Corporate Rules (BCRs).
  • Contribute to privacy program development by drafting and refining global compliance policies, standards, and guidance in partnership with subject matter experts.
  • Promote a culture of privacy compliance and accountability by engaging cross-functional collaborators, supporting audits and reviews, and driving continuous improvement across e Bay’s global privacy program.

What you will bring:

  • Expert knowledge of global privacy and data protection laws, including GDPR, UK GDPR, and key non-EU frameworks (e.g., CCPA), with a solid understanding of emerging AI and data governance regulations.
  • Relevant academic qualifications include a Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Law, Business Law, Compliance, or a related field. A JD or equivalent is also welcome. Privacy certifications like CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPP/US, CIPT, AIGP, or equivalent are a strong plus.
  • 3-5 years’ experience, including 1-3 years in privacy, data protection, compliance or related risk management roles within a complex or global organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving approach, with the ability to assess privacy risks, recommend practical mitigations, and deliver timely compliance outcomes.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with proficiency in English. Ideally, also German, and other European languages are beneficial. Ability to work effectively across Legal, business, data governance, and technical teams.
  • Familiarity with privacy and compliance tooling and willingness to travel occasionally.
