Today’s energy landscape is in the midst of profound transformation, making this one of the most exciting and dynamic times for the power industry as we lead the shift to cleaner, smarter, and more resilient energy systems. The Integrated Resource Planning team serves to bring the Company’s strategic vision to reality by managing complex cross-functional system planning activities to determine the most reliable and cost‑effective mix of energy resources to advance the modernization of our generating fleet while meeting customers’ growing electricity needs.
An Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) is filed with each of our state’s utilities commission and evaluates a wide range of supply‑ and demand‑side options under different scenarios, accounting for uncertainty in load growth, fuel prices, technology evolution, and regulatory requirements. Through this process, Duke Energy develops strategies that balance reliability, affordability, sustainability, and risk over a multi‑year planning horizon while engaging stakeholders and regulators throughout.
