This position can be hired as either an Engineer I or Engineer II depending on experience
Nuclear Engineer I or Nuclear Engineer II – Electrical Design Engineer
Summary
The Electrical Design team manages the development, design, and implementation of plant modifications. The individual will be responsible for developing the scope, technical basis, installation, and testing requirements for plant modifications installed in the plant. Ongoing support of assigned engineering changes through work order reviews, corrective action program assignments, and field installation support activities is required.
Responsibilities

Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity in both inside as well as outside the scope of typical responsibility.

Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities; decisions may affect the operations or results of the work group and may have some impact on major projects or department results.

Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches related to defined problems and analysis of increasing scope and complexity.

Conducts engineering and related studies; completes non-routine engineering projects with minimal oversight with the ability to independently manage project schedules and interfaces; competent to design, operate and maintain systems with moderate impact on existing systems.

Possesses and applies the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures; proficient in technical and analytical competencies necessary to handle assignments of increasing complexity.

Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records and files.

Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.

Design Changes would include AC power systems, DC power systems, Large AC motors, Transformers, Switchgear, Motor Control Centers, Voltage Regulators, Breakers, etc.
Basic / Required Qualifications
Nuclear Engineer I:
-
Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.

A master’s degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering

0-2 years of engineering experience
Nuclear Engineer II:
-
Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
-
A Master 's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.

2-4 years of engineering experience.

Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
-
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Proficient in engineering theories and principles.

Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations based on solid engineering judgement.

Good written and oral communication skills.
-
Proficient in principles of project management.
-
Experience in the utility industry
Specific Requirements
-
In lieu of 1 year of nuclear experience, a selected candidate is subject to the oversight and written approval authority of a designated qualified individual until the selected candidate becomes fully qualified.

Able to achieve nuclear site Unescorted Access/Security clearance.

This position may be required to have Emergency Response Organization (ERO) responsibilities which could include callouts with a defined response time to the site and an on-call duty rotation requiring the employee to be Fit for Duty.

Required to wear personal protective equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, fall protection, etc.) as needed.
-
Office and plant environments.
-
Additional hours expected as workload/business need requires.

Occasional overnight travel.
Working Conditions
- Typically, an office environment with some work in the plant to conduct system walkdowns and field support of modification implementation.
