About the Team

Our Door Dash Kitchens team is dedicated to maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient kitchen environment that supports all food-related initiatives across Door Dash, including recipe testing, content creation, and employee engagement. Our mission is to ensure seamless day-to-day operations so that our chefs and content creators can focus on innovation and quality while upholding the highest standards of food safety and organization. This is a small but mighty team helping scale Door Dash Kitchens.

About the Role

  • Kitchen Excellence. This role focuses primarily on maintaining the highest levels of kitchen cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness, with a secondary focus on basic culinary prep work.

  • **Dynamic Duties.**Success in this role is defined by the consistent, spotless condition of the facility and the efficient management of kitchen stock. The key challenge will be balancing rigorous cleaning schedules with the dynamic needs of ongoing projects like photoshoots.

  • **One Team, One Fight.**You’ll get the pleasure of supporting Doordash Kitchen’s R&D Chef and Sous Chef. In this role, you’ll learn directly from industry professionals and get exposure to the world of tech.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Open and close the facility while ensuring day-to-day operational readiness of all shared kitchen and workspace areas

  • Receive, unload, and manage supplier deliveries (including Sysco), track inventory, and maintain strict FIFO stock rotation

  • Clean, organize, and maintain all shared spaces daily, including kitchens, pick-up areas, offices, bathrooms, and breakrooms, ensuring health code compliance

  • Perform basic facility, kitchen, and equipment maintenance; troubleshoot commercial appliances and promptly report issues to maintain operational efficiency

  • Enforce and monitor food safety standards, standard operating procedures, and safe food handling practices across the facility

  • Manage shared storage areas to ensure proper organization, labeling, and accessibility for merchants

  • Assist with photoshoots and culinary demonstrations, including station setup, inventory movement, and post-production dishwashing

  • Perform essential prep tasks such as slicing and dicing to support chefs, without involvement in advanced recipe development or complex cooking

  • Utilize your understanding of various commercial appliances to assist with general maintenance and report any issues promptly to maintain operational efficiency.

We’re excited about you because…

  • You possess a basic but solid foundation of organizational and operational skills, evidenced by a minimum of 6 months of exposure to a commercial kitchen or grocery environment.

  • You have a demonstrated ability to perform deep cleaning and are capable of regular physical activity, including safely lifting up to 40 lbs.

  • You are prepared to obtain a food handlers card upon hire (reimbursement will be provided).

  • You are familiar with or demonstrate a quick aptitude for food safety best practices, inventory management (especially FIFO), and general kitchen equipment operation.

Compensation:

Actual compensation within the pay range listed below will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location. Base salary is localized according to employee work location.

See below for paid time off details:

  • For salaried roles: flexible paid time off/vacation, plus 80 hours of paid sick time per year.

  • For hourly roles: vacation accrued at about 1 hour for every 25.97 hours worked (e.g. about 6.7 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 3.4 hours/month if working 20 hours/week), and paid sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked (e.g. about 5.8 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 2.9 hours/month if working 20 hours/week).

The national base pay range for this position within the United States, including Illinois and Colorado.$18—$26.50 USD
