About Your Role:

As a Utility Coordinator at Dollar Tree’s corporate office, you’ll manage utility setups and disconnections for new, relocating, expanding, and existing stores across Dollar Tree. You’ll serve as the primary point of contact for utility providers while partnering closely with landlords, General Contractors, field teams, and facility operations to ensure seamless account management and quick resolution of utility-related needs. With your support, you’ll help maintain business continuity and reduce operational disruptions across our store network.

Your day-to-day job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Utility Setup & Account Management

  • Coordinate utility setups and disconnects for new, relocating, expanding, and existing stores.
  • Partner with landlords and Project Managers to confirm utility providers and obtain existing meter numbers prior to store turnover.
  • Obtain surety bonds in lieu of large deposits and provide required documentation to utility companies.
  • Accurately enter all utility account information into the company’s web-based system in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a detailed spreadsheet with updated store site and utility account information and communicate changes weekly to the utility bill payer.
  • Provide utility information to the Real Estate Portfolio team during subleases or lease terminations.

Operational Support & Issue Resolution

  • Support field and facility operations by coordinating urgent utility requests for all open Dollar Tree and Family Dollar locations.
  • Respond promptly to escalations and research root causes to prevent disruptions.
  • Monitor the utility bill payer’s database for critical exceptions requiring approval to prevent late payments.
  • Track the license database for upcoming utility disconnection dates and work with the Store Setup team to coordinate closure dates.
  • Facilitate reimbursement payments to landlords when appropriate.

Workload Planning & Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Manage new store construction workload by reviewing upcoming turnover dates.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for utility vendors and internal associates.
  • Partner across departments to ensure accuracy, timely updates, and resolution of utility-related matters.

Your Required Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize projects.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Extensive experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and web-based applications.
  • Strong business writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent phone and clerical skills.
  • Self-motivated, independent worker with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to assess situations quickly and make accurate decisions.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to recognize the need for action, evaluate information, and make informed decisions quickly.
  • Experience supporting utilities or facilities coordination is a plus.
