Discord seeks a skilled data engineer to join our Data team, focusing on our advertising products. In this role, you will own the data infrastructure that powers Discord's ad identity and audience capabilities - including Identity Graph crosswalk tables, audience resolution pipelines, and targeting data that downstream systems consume. You will design and maintain sophisticated data pipelines, datasets, and analytical tools while partnering closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality data solutions.

This role works heavily with Data Science, Ads Engineering, product, and external measurement partners. If you're energized by owning a critical data domain end-to-end and building infrastructure that directly powers advertising products, we encourage you to apply.

  • What You'll Be Doing

  • Own and maintain complex data pipelines and foundational datasets within the identity and audience domain, including pipelines that resolve user identities across hashed emails, device IDs, and partner identifiers

  • Design and build ETL processes, data models, and analytical frameworks using SQL, Python, and modern data stack technologies

  • Develop and maintain data quality audits, monitoring systems, and alerting infrastructure for your domain

  • Ingest and process advertiser-provided custom audiences, managing partner data integrations with external platforms

  • Collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers, and product teams to translate requirements into scalable, maintainable data solutions

  • Break down complex projects (e.g., IDG Phase 2, CAPI support) into phased deliverables that ship incremental value

  • Own prioritization within your domain, balancing roadmap commitments with operational needs and ad-hoc requests

  • Share learnings and support teammates encountering identity/PII data challenges

  • What You Should Have

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience writing production code and architecting data pipelines with high-volume consumer data, preferably in advertising technology domains (ad delivery, targeting, identity, measurement)

  • 3+ years of direct experience designing, coding, and maintaining data models and systems handling structured and unstructured data sources

  • Strong coding abilities in SQL, Python, and modern data engineering frameworks with demonstrated ability to write performant, maintainable code

  • Experience implementing and maintaining data quality audits and monitoring systems for large-scale datasets

  • Solid technical communication skills to explain implementations to stakeholders and collaborate effectively across functions

  • Ability to own a domain end-to-end: design, implementation, stakeholder management, and adoption

  • Collaborative mindset with intellectual curiosity and commitment to technical excellence

  • Passion for Discord or gaming

  • Experience with identity resolution, customer data platforms, or partner data integrations

  • Experience working with PII in privacy-compliant architectures (hashing, encryption, compliance workflows)

  • Experience with modern data storage and processing technologies (Big Query, Airflow, Dagster, dbt, or similar)

  • Experience with third-party advertising data—MMPs, ad platforms, or measurement partners

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $196,000 to $220,500 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity, or benefits.
