Senior IT Product Manager – Employee Experience Location: San Francisco, CA or Mountain View, CA
About Databricks IT
At Databricks, our mission is to help data teams solve the world’s toughest problems and that starts with empowering our own employees.
The Databricks IT organization is a product-led team that builds intelligent, scalable systems to make every Brickster’s workday simpler, faster, and more connected. We’re reimagining how employees and managers interact with internal tools; designing a unified, AI-driven experience that integrates data, insights, and workflows across the company.
We’re looking for a Senior IT Product Manager to lead strategy and delivery for our Employee Experience, an internal product that brings together all employment-related workflows (onboarding, performance, compensation, engagement, and more) into one seamless experience.
The Opportunity
Managers and employees at Databricks interact with dozens of systems every week, from Workday to performance and onboarding tools, often switching contexts and duplicating effort. This team is responsible for defining and delivering product vision to simplify and unify the employee experience, designing an integrated layer that sits on top of our systems of record to surface the right tasks, insights, and actions in one place.
You’ll own a product area within the employee experience domain and shape the future of how Databricks works internally: how we design, measure, and continuously improve the way people manage their teams, careers, and day-to-day tasks.
What You’ll Do
-
Own the Vision: Define and evolve the long-term strategy for the unified employee and manager experience, aligning with Databricks’ product-led IT vision. Translate goals like reducing friction and improving engagement into an actionable roadmap centered on employee and manager needs. Champion a persona-based approach that starts with the needs of managers and employees, not the constraints of existing systems.
-
Drive Product Strategy: Partner with stakeholders across People, IT, and Engineering to design connected, intuitive workflows that unify multiple systems. Lead discovery, user research, and prioritization to deliver scalable, data-driven solutions.
-
Execute and Measure: Define success metrics (adoption, efficiency, engagement) and use insights to guide iteration and storytelling. Ensure each release delivers measurable impact and advances the unified experience.
-
Influence and Collaborate: Work cross-functionally to align design, engineering, and leadership around the product vision. Communicate clearly, build alignment across diverse stakeholders, and represent the experience initiative in company-wide productivity and AI discussions.
What You Bring
-
5+ years of product management experience, ideally in enterprise or internal product environments.
-
Proven success delivering products that connect multiple systems and drive measurable business impact.
-
Strategic thinker who links product outcomes to organizational goals.
-
Strong stakeholder management and storytelling skills to align diverse teams around a clear vision.
-
Experience using AI, analytics, or data to enhance user experience and decision-making.
-
Deep understanding of user-centered design, data-informed development, and modern governance practices (e.g., RBAC/ABAC).
-
Comfortable leading through ambiguity and influencing without authority across technical and business teams.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience with enterprise platforms like Workday, Service Now, or similar HR systems.
-
Strong grasp of the employee lifecycle and how technology enables it.
-
Proven track record in building internal productivity or HR experience products at scale.
Why You’ll Love This Role
This is not a traditional IT role - it's an opportunity to build one of Databricks’ most visible internal products, touching every employee and manager. You’ll define how the company experiences its own culture, systems, and data, while shaping a product that embodies Databricks’ values of simplicity, truth-seeking, and innovation.
You’ll be part of a forward-looking IT organization that’s product-led, AI-aware, and design-obsessed, and you’ll have the autonomy to create the future of how Databricks works.
