The Key Account Manager owns and grows the regional microscopy business by managing key accounts, acquiring new customers, and driving revenue through strategic planning and hands-on, customer-facing sales. It includes full responsibility for opportunity management and forecasting, while coordinating and leading cross-functional teams to ensure effective customer engagement and execution.

This position reports to the Sales Manager Confocal DACH and is part of the Sales Life Science DACH Team working remotely to cover broader Berlin, Mecklenburg Vorpommern, Sachsen and CP regions (EE and Israel), area

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Own, manage and grow the microscopy business in the assigned regions by maintaining existing accounts and acquiring new customers to meet ambitious WF and Confocal growth targets.
  • Develop strategies for winning new business through geographic key account planning, account mapping and strong networking.
  • Coordinate and leverage internal experts (Advanced Workflow Specialists, Marketing) and Channel Partners to ensure customers engage with the right specialists at the right time.
  • Serve as the key decision-maker for customer strategy and service within the defined geographic key account area.
  • Proactively manage opportunities and the sales funnel for accurate forecasting, while being customer‑facing on-site approximately three days per week.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Degree in Life Sciences
  • Strong, proven sales experience in a relevant industry (medical devices, life sciences), with prior exposure to confocal microscopy strongly preferred
  • Initial experience in managing and/or leading cross‑functional teams in a direct or matrix environment, or clear motivation to take this next career step
  • Combination of hands‑on, operational sales capabilities with a strategic and structured mindset, enabling the definition and execution of mid‑term team strategies
  • Strong communication skills and solid business acumen, with a clear drive to exceed targets

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: if applicable for role

  • Ability to travel – 40% travel, overnight, within territory or locations
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
