The Field Application / Product Manager is responsible for providing technical support for the sales activities of the assigned life science research instruments and acting as the technical expert for internal teams and customers. The role also includes delivering post-sales application support to ensure customers can effectively use the products, including troubleshooting, method optimization, and providing practical guidance. In addition, the position is responsible for preparing all materials and documentation required for domestic sales, such as the localization of product specifications, catalogs, user manuals, and other technical documents into Japanese, as well as preparing the necessary paperwork for import and export procedures. The role further involves ensuring regulatory and legal compliance of consumables intended for future product lines planned for the Japanese market.

This position reports to the  Division Manager, Application Solutions, Molecular Devices Japan KK  and is part of the Application Solutions Division located in Tokyo, Japan and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Explaining product applications to customers during business discussions.

  • Presenting at academic conferences, webinars, and other scientific events.

  • Conducting product demonstrations for prospective and existing customers.

  • Providing product training and operational guidance to users.

  • Communicating with global product teams as the local product lead and gathering technical insights to support market activities.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences or a related scientific field.

  • At least three years of industry experience in the life science or research instrumentation sector, preferably in roles involving technical support, applications, or customer facing scientific guidance.     (Candidates using life science equipment at pharmaceutical company can be considered)

  • English ability to write and read email and to understand contents at global meeting and ask simple questions in English.

  • A high level of interpersonal effectiveness, selfmotivation, and the ability to collaborate seamlessly with crossfunctional teams such as Sales and Service.

  • Demonstrated capability in supporting customers throughout their workflow, including needs assessment, protocol optimization, and translating customer requirements into actionable technical guidance.

The preferred requirements

  • A master’s degree or higher in life sciences or a related scientific field, with a strong foundation in experimental methodologies and data interpretation.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel several times per month within Japan, with occasional international trips lasting up to approximately two weeks (Business trip could be 20-30% of work) .
