The role of Director, Deal Architecture and Governance at Leica Biosystems is a critical position that intertwines strategic innovation with meticulous execution. Situated within the Commercial team, this role demands a blend of analytical acumen and creative problem-solving to navigate the complexities of high-value commercial proposals. This critical leadership position will lead the strategic development and execution of complex, high-value commercial proposals across North America.
The role will partner closely with Sales, Finance, Pricing, Contracts, and Legal to shape compelling, customer-centric deal structures that drive revenue growth while ensuring compliance and profitability. As a key member of the Commercial Leadership Team, this position is responsible for optimizing our pricing models, improving deal velocity, and overseeing the Deal Design Team functional day-to-day operations and performance.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Lead the Deal Architecture and Governance Function: Provide leadership and direction to the Deal Architecture and Governance Team, driving best practices in deal modeling, pricing strategy, and proposal execution. Act as a subject matter expert and escalation point for complex deal scenarios.

Strategic Proposal Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Legal, Sales and Product Management to develop, review, and approve strategic proposals that align with Leica’s financial and operational targets. Ensure proposals include competitive intelligence and market trending as part of deal shaping, while meeting business requirements and maximizing customer value.

Pricing and Governance Leadership: Own and enhance the Deal Calculator and related modeling tools to enable accurate pricing and configuration. Ensure alignment with company pricing policies and contract terms. Drive governance and compliance across all deal structures.

Business Partnership: Act as a trusted advisor to the Sales and Leadership teams. Participate in pipeline reviews and strategic account planning to proactively support large opportunities. Partner with Finance and Legal to mitigate risk and ensure financial integrity.

Talent Development: Mentor and coach Deal Design team members, fostering a culture of accountability, analytical excellence, and continuous improvement. Identify resource needs and drive functional capability building.

Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage analytics to track key metrics such as deal cycle times, pricing exceptions, and win/loss rates. Use insights to optimize processes and support continuous improvement.

Drive Process Improvement and Automation enabled by AI: Identify inefficiencies in current deal workflows and implement process enhancements to streamline proposal development and approval. Drive more automated workflows through AI solutions.
The essential requirements of the job include:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field.

6 years of experience in commercial operations, pricing strategy, or deal management.

3 years of people leadership experience, with a proven ability to develop high-performing teams.

Advanced Excel capabilities and experience managing and building financial models.

Familiarity with Salesforce.com, PowerBI, and CPQ or pricing software.

Strong influencing, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills across leadership levels.

Proven ability to manage complex, high-value proposals in a matrixed environment.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

Education: Master’s degree.

Experience in the clinical diagnostics, healthcare, or life sciences industry.

Familiarity with SAP or other ERP software solutions.

Deep understanding of contract terms, commercial finance principles, and value-based selling.

The salary range for this role is $160,000 – $190,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
We offer comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
