Surveyor – Retail Valuation

Valuation & Advisory

Location: London

This exciting opportunity is within our commercial retail team, specialising in valuing retail and mixed-use properties (shopping centres, retail parks, supermarkets) for a wide range of clients including investors, banks, insurance companies, institutional funds, REITS, public and private companies.

With many property sectors facing unprecedented challenges, our Valuations team, in collaboration with other C&W skill lines, is at the forefront of advising clients on the impact of cyclical and structural change on their property interests.

You will have an eye for detail, be highly numerate and able to work both independently and as part of a team to meet tight deadlines. You will have experience and good knowledge in both Argus Enterprise and Valcap. and building complex cash flows and investment scenarios in Excel and Argus Developer,

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake existing valuation mandates and start to build contacts to attract new business

  • Work primarily for loan security, accounts and management purposes

  • Work in an efficient and successful manner

  • Prepare valuations and strategic advice to a wide variety of clients

  • Be able to take day to day responsibility for execution of instructions under minimum supervision

  • Coordinate the use of larger teams across the valuation department (UK and Europe)

  • To promote the service line to existing and prospective clients

  • To start to develop a profile in the marketplace through building key client relationships

  • Play an active role in the development of more junior team members

  • To prepare valuation reports, in various formats

Skills:

  • Competent in Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Analytical skills to be able to draw out market trends and information

  • Able to form and justify opinions on property values

  • Confidence in prioritisation and working to deadlines

  • Able to think ‘outside the box’

  • Able to see things from the client’s viewpoint

  • Able to build client relationships and create new business

Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with operating assets would be an advantage

  • Familiar with Argus Valuation software (not essential)

  • MRICS qualified

  • RICS Registered Valuer – (preferred but not essential)

Experience:

  • Commercial valuation experience preferred
