Job Description Summary
The Welder and Pipefitter is responsible for performing skilled welding, fabrication, and piping system maintenance to support safe and efficient plant operations. This role conducts preventive maintenance, inspects and repairs piping, tanks, vessels, and structural systems, and contributes to the installation of new piping and equipment.
The Fitter Welder interprets engineering drawings, adheres to strict safety standards, and ensures all work meets applicable codes and specifications. The position requires strong technical ability, precision workmanship, and a commitment to safe, high‑quality execution in a fast‑paced industrial environment.
Job Description
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Work effectively in a team‑oriented, safety‑focused environment. Maintain strict adherence to “Safety First” expectations, including PJHA processes, observations, and compliance with all site safety policies and procedures.
- Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on tanks, vessels, piping systems, and structural systems.
- Execute assigned duties with moderate supervision and appropriate follow‑up.
- Lay out and fabricate new or replacement piping systems. Install valves and related components. Ensure all maintenance activities comply with established standards. Assist in developing preventive maintenance procedures and document discrepancies through work order feedback.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of blueprint reading, isometric diagram interpretation, and welding codes. Must be certified or able to obtain certification to B31.1 Pipe Welding Code and 6‑G stainless steel welding. Accurately lay out, position, and secure parts using measuring tools such as straightedges, squares, calipers, and rulers.
- Perform tack welding and full welding using electric, gas, or arc equipment. Cut materials using saws or hand tools. Melt and form metals as required. Install and repair equipment such as pipes, valves, floors, and tank linings.
- Conduct inspections and tests—including hydrostatic, x‑ray, and dimensional tolerance checks—to evaluate weld quality. Inspect weld joints using precision instruments and remove imperfections using grinders, files, or scrapers.
- Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions. Form and finish metal parts using torches, arc welding tools, and various hand tools. Adjust torch or machine settings to achieve optimal weld conditions.
- Analyze engineering drawings to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations. Develop templates or fixtures to align materials. Determine necessary tools, equipment, and welding methods based on technical knowledge.
- Safely work from elevated areas such as ladders, platforms, and scaffolding, using fall protection when required. Must be available to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays. Perform additional mechanical repair and maintenance tasks as assigned.

Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree in Welding preferred but not required.
Experience
- Fitter/Welders: 0–2 years of experience in industrial welding and repairs preferred (certification required).
- Pipe Fitter/Welders: 0–2+ years of experience in industrial welding and repairs preferred.
- 1–2 years of education in industrial maintenance technologies preferred.
Work Environment
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, electrical hazards, and vibration.
- Occasional exposure to high heat, extreme cold, and wet/humid conditions.
- Noise levels are typically very loud.
- Work from elevated platforms, ladders, or scaffolding as required.

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.
The compensation for the position is: $25.50 - $30.00
