Ready to join a mission that matters? The future of cybersecurity starts with you.
About The Role
Crowd Strike Falcon is a two-component security product. One component is the sensor, installed on endpoint client systems that observes system activity and recognizes malicious behavior, then provides on-system prevention capability and remote telemetry to the Falcon cloud. The Cloud component aggregates sensor telemetry for each customer's network and can correlate malicious behavior across multiple machines, presenting our customers' operations teams with a prioritized summary of the threats detected in their environments. Join Crowd Strike and become a key leader in building the most innovative endpoint security solution in the world. As an Engineering Manager for our performance test team, you will be expected to have ownership of projects related to ongoing sensor development. As part of our sensor quality team you will be responsible for strategizing, testing, actioning, and reporting on our sensor performance quality. Performance team duties include understanding the current development, test and production environments across multiple platforms. Then designing and implementing solutions to ensure the performance of the sensor.
What You'll Do
- Provide technical and managerial leadership within the Sensor Quality team particularly around non-functional testing such as Endpoint performance. Responsibilities include driving test strategies, building a tool roadmap, mentoring engineers, providing technical guidance and driving quality outcomes.
- Own performance test roadmap, including design and maintain complex test environments that replicate customer deployments to validate sensor performance under real-world workloads.
- Drive performance test strategies: automation frameworks, workload generators, telemetry capture and analysis pipelines
- Champion initiatives to improve CPU, memory, I/O, disk and network efficiency across platforms.
- Troubleshooting complex sensor test and tooling issues and champion development projects that will help to improve overall sensor performance while supporting sensor engineers
- Support sensor development teams with service level agreements and operational needs.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams in various locations.
What You'll Need
- Advanced knowledge of Python for automation and data analysis across multiple operating systems.
- General knowledge and understanding of C/C++
- Strong understanding of performance characteristics, including CPU utilization, memory management, execution cost and concurrency/threading impacts.
- Hands on experience setting up and managing enterprise-scale environments (Such as Windows AD, SQL cluster and distributed clusters).
- Ability to design reproducible testbeds that mirror customer topologies for accurate performance validation.
- Proven experience with performance engineering methodologies: profiling, benchmarking, scalability analysis, stress and longevity testing.
- Experience building and leading teams that deliver system level performance testing frameworks.
- Ability to analyze large-scale telemetry to identify bottlenecks and recommend optimizations.
- Advanced knowledge of product quality strategies including manual testing, automation, white or black box testing at massive scale
- Experience working with and leading teams to define and execute on major projects
- Ability to lead, mentor, communicate, collaborate, partner and work effectively in a distributed team
Bonus Points
- Hands-on experience with profiling tools (perf, ETW, Xcode Instruments, etc) across Windows, macOS, Linux.
- Experience with cloud-scale telemetry pipelines and data visualization (EKL, Splunk, Log Scale)
- Experience with Jenkins configuration and optimizations
- Strong background in scalable, light-weight and high performing systems
- Familiarity and experience with Agile process
