ABOUT THE ROLE:

We're a team at Confluent Solutions Engineering that supports both the broader Confluent Solutions Engineering community and Confluent customers throughout their journey. Our mission is to amplify the capabilities of Solutions Engineering teams through outstanding service delivery and technical prowess, playing a pivotal role in the entire customer engagement lifecycle.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Technical advisor to Confluent customers as you undertake technical design and development of their end-to-end solution, be conversant with the current state and future roadmap of Kafka in open source, and be able to identify known issues and inform them of upcoming fixes or workarounds.

• Deep Expertise Development: Cultivate an in-depth understanding of Confluent’s technologies and the intricacies of building streaming applications in order to resolve complex customer issues.

• POC/Pilot Solutions: Aid customers in overcoming technical challenges during use case deployment and where appropriate partner with Confluent Stakeholders(Engineering, Product, Support) to eliminate the technical roadblocks.

• Technical Demos and Workshops: Collaborate with Confluent's Account Executives (AEs) to craft and deliver solution-oriented demos and workshops that go beyond the standard to drive expansion use cases.

• Customer Engagement: Offer technical assistance in driving customer consumption through monthly customer health reports, Quarterly Business Reviews, and Quarterly Technical Reviews.

• Knowledge Sharing, Workshops, and Training: Leading the effort with cross-functional teams, including Field Marketing, Partner Solutions by conducting training sessions and workshops/webinars for customers, partners, prospects, and internal teams to educate them on Confluent's platform/cloud, features, and best practices.

• Technical Artifact Creation and Maintenance: Architect, build, and maintain reusable artifacts, including tools, prototypes, demos, workshops, and architecture blueprints.

• Act a technical evangelist

• Driving technical upskilling in the team, socializing new product/feature awareness, lead tech initiatives, partner with cross-functional teams within Confluent to identify synergies and collaborate to maximize customer impact.

• Global Presence through Rotational Coverage: Efficiently cover diverse time zones with rotational cycles: 8 AM - 5 PM for APAC, 2 PM - 11 PM for EMEA, and 6 PM - 3 AM for the Americas. This approach ensures optimal availability across the globe, emphasizing our commitment to exceptional service and customer satisfaction.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

• 4-7 years of experience in Solutions Engineering, Software Development, Data Engineering, Data Architect, Cloud Architect or similar roles

• Strong hands-on knowledge in building solutions with Apache Kafka & Flink

• Experience with cloud architecture, onprem architecture

• Experience with distributed systems, infrastructure software like databases, message queues, Kubernetes, serverless and/or Big Data products, developing ETL applications.

• Experience of working with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and/or Software as a Service (SaaS)

• Experience with software development tools, configuration management, infrastructure automation, and CI/CD tooling(e.g., Terraform, Ansible) is a plus.

• Development language agnostic, and proficiency on Java or, Python or SQL

• Exceptional presentation and communications capabilities. Confidence presenting to a highly skilled and experienced audience, including enterprise architects and C-level executives

• Clear, consistent demonstration of self-starter behavior and a desire to tackle hard technical problems

• Bachelor’s level degree in Computer Science or relevant experience

WHAT GIVES YOU AN EDGE:

• Knowledge about building and operating large-scale massively parallel systems.

• Development or operations experience in a cloud-based environment.

• Experience with DevOps culture and Agile software development.

• AWS Solutions Architect Associate or equivalent in other cloud providers and Confluent Certifications.
