As a Senior Aeroacoustics Research Scientist, you will be part of the Thermo-Mechanical Systems team, working in a creative, collaborative environment alongside leading experts in fluid dynamics, heat transfer, turbomachinery, and acoustics. Together, you will explore and design next-generation aircraft systems.
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will analyse and develop aircraft systems from early-stage concepts through to the delivery of advanced technologies that prioritize efficiency and a low noise footprint.
You will innovative in the delivery of advanced technology through creative analysis and problem solving; to possess the ability to select and deploy appropriate modelling fidelity for a given problem including the application of high-fidelity computational models; to communicate research results effectively through both verbal and written means; and to participate in the creation of research proposals to Collins business units and government agencies.
This role is within an international team with great talent who are passionate and knowledgeable about Themo-Mechanical Systems. You will join a worldwide community of researchers influencing and developing industry-changing technology. And you will do that through a mixture of theoretical analysis, modeling, simulations, and proof-of-concept demonstrations.
What YOU must have:
- A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
- Experience in aeroacoustics / fluid mechanics / aerodynamics as applied to propulsion systems, rotor technologies, turbomachinery, or compression systems with experience in the application of computational fluid dynamics in one or more of these areas.
- Experience with state of the art tools on noise modelling, simulation of sound propagation and interaction with structures, and techniques to minimize noise levels.
- Experience in the application of analytical skills towards the development of new technologies.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Master's Degree or Ph.D. in aerospace engineering, or closely related field.
- Ph.D. candidates with no formal experience will be considered. M.S. candidates must have 1+ years of experience in a relevant work environment.
- Adaptability and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
- Excellent communication skills, informal and formal presentation skills, and ability to foster positive relationships with internal and external partners.
- Ability to manage uncertain requirements, develop approaches to solve problems, and recognize when additional subject matter expertise is needed.
