What You Will Do
Control & Diagnostic Systems (CDS) is a dynamic engineering organization focused on the development and certification of military and, commercial and industrial gas turbine engine control, and diagnostic systems. CDS is responsible for all aspects of Pratt & Whitney engine control and diagnostic system development including requirements analysis & definition, system & software architecture, algorithm design, and product software design, verification & validation. We integrate the control and diagnostic system design across other engine system modules and with the air vehicles and provide support throughout the complete engine product life cycle.
You'll have the opportunity to use your understanding of software principles, theories, and concepts related to software engineering (including software development lifecycle and software development process), design patterns, and Object-Oriented architecture to develop a software product.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Develop, design, and debug OBPHM Services in Linux Kubernetes environment.
- Develop software code that implements requirements, working closely with customers, stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts.
- Decompose system level and customer interface requirements into software requirements and designs within an Agile Framework
- Work with a team of Java and Python software developers within an Agile framework across multiple projects.
- Conduct iterative prototype testing and reviews of requirements and designs
- Perform software verification within the Agile Framework including regression analysis, test case development, test script development and evaluation of results
- Participating in Agile ceremonies
- Participate in software planning, estimating and tracking per Agile framework
- Potential to serve as Agile Scrum Master and/or part of the Development Team
- Review and analyze offboard software requirements.
- Conduct code reviews.
- Troubleshoot code and build issues and support released software and deployments.
- Implement, adhere to, and continuously improve software development processes and procedures
What You Will Learn
- You will learn how to develop military offboard software diagnostic systems, including requirements analysis & definition, system & software architecture, algorithm design, and product software design, verification & validation.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- 8 years of engineering experience, or an Advanced Degree and 5 years’ experience.
- U.S. Citizen
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience with Microservices, Java, Python, CI/CD, Agile, Dev Sec Ops, AWS, SQL, Test Driven Design
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting.
- Solid track record of achieving results in technical leadership role.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams.
- Proven ability to drive process improvement in a technical organization.
- Demonstrated Expertise in Software Verification & Validation, functional coverage, code coverage, traceability, methodologies, automation, quality assurance practices, software engineering process
- Excellent troubleshooting, investigation, problem solving and analytical thinking skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills needed to interface with Development Team, Customers, Stakeholders and SMEs.

The EDSI Commercial Engines and Military Engines organizations are focused on delivering systems solutions to meet customer requirements, driving engineering quality and productivity, and developing the next generation if systems engineers. EDSI is responsible for the integration of components, modules, and sub-systems into world class commercial and military propulsion systems.
Controls & Diagnostics Systems (CDS)
CDS develops complex, cyber-resilient control systems and software for commercial and military engines including power and thermal management Systems and auxiliary power units. CDS also develops advanced diagnostic & health management systems to monitor our products, forecast events and help facilitate MRO operations. With growing emphasis on sustainability, CDS is on the forefront of system development for hybrid and electric propulsion.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.
As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure hiring process, candidates may be asked to attend select steps of the interview process in-person at one of our office locations, regardless of whether the role is designated as on-site, hybrid or remote.
The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
