The Vision Systems Mechanical engineering team is responsible for all mechanical engineering tasks related to the design, analysis, test, certification, installation and sustainment of aerospace head-up display (HUD), helmet and headworn display (HHD) and guidance products. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that our products meet rigorous environmental qualification standards. This role involves conducting and managing Environmental Qualification Testing in accordance with DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 standards to ensure compliance with aerospace and defense requirements.

What You Will Do:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all Environmental Qualification Testing at the Wilsonville site.

  • Plan, execute, and document Environmental Qualification Testing in compliance with DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 standards.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, systems engineering, and program management, to define test requirements and resolve non-compliance issues.

  • Develop test procedures, analyze test data, and prepare reports to demonstrate compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.

  • Oversee test setups, including vibration, temperature, humidity, shock, altitude and other environmental testing.

  • Work autonomously under the direction of team leaders, program management, and engineering management.

  • Lead test failure investigations, spearhead root cause analysis and drive corrective actions.

  • Mentor other engineers in best practices for environmental qualification testing.

  • Support design reviews and provide input on environmental requirements for new product designs.

  • Interface with customers, suppliers, and regulatory agencies as needed to ensure successful test results and compliance.

  • Maintain expertise in environmental testing standards and emerging industry trends.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field

  • Experience in Environmental Qualification Testing (aerospace, defense, automotive or other industries with high-reliability products) in accordance with industry standards

  • Proficiency in environmental testing methods, data analysis techniques and technical report writing.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Familiarity with standards like MIL-HDBK-454 to enhance product reliability and compliance.

  • Hands-on experience with test lab equipment (e.g., vibration test systems, thermal chambers).

  • Experience in mechanical engineering design and development.

  • Experience with structural and thermal management design.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
