What You Will Do

As an Engineering Team Lead, you will manage a team of 4-6 Manufacturing Engineers, providing leadership, guidance, and support across all stages of the manufacturing process, with a primary focus on New Product Introduction (NPI). This role is centred on assembly and manufacturing, while also requiring an understanding across the full production lifecycle from logistics through to final inspection.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the team, ensuring key performance indicators (KPIs) are maintained and continuously improved. You will support production through effective problem-solving, drive line efficiency improvements, and promote a strong continuous improvement culture.

You will also conduct regular 1:1 reviews, set annual objectives, and ensure the team continues to develop in line with business requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Manufacturing Engineers to achieve production and development goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Design, Operations, Quality) to ensure aerospace interior products are designed for manufacturability.
  • Develop and maintain accurate processes, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation within the department.
  • Provide technical support to production facilities and resolve engineering challenges as they arise.
  • Participate in design reviews, offering feedback to optimise manufacturability, cost, and efficiency.
  • Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Drive compliance with internal standards, processes, and regulatory requirements across NPI and production.
  • Support APQP implementation, including process controls, risk assessments, and validation activities for new designs.
  • Monitor, collect, and analyse KPIs to identify improvement opportunities and maintain operational performance.
  • Lead structured problem-solving activities (8D, Root Cause Analysis) for customer and production-related issues.
  • Investigate and introduce new processes, equipment, and tooling to enhance production capability.

Essential Criteria

  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline with a minimum of two years’ leading projects and teams in an assembly environment
  • OR: A higher qualification such as HND/HNC in a relevant engineering discipline with at least five years’ relevant experience.
  • Proven track record of leading projects or teams in an assembly environment.

Desirable Criteria

  • A good understanding of Lean tools, and how to implement them within a production environment

Internal Only Criteria

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a comparable supervisory role

  • OR

  • Hold or working towards a Third Level Education in a relevant engineering or quality discipline

  • Minimum 3 years' engineering or quality experience in the manufacturing industry

  • OR

  • Currently working in a P3 role in Engineering or Quality
