Position Role Type:

Strategic buyer (SB) is responsible for sourcing of parts, cost management and supplier selection, within an agreed and defined commodity strategy. The SB will form a close, collaborative, working relationship with both the tactical counterpart and the commodity manager to ensure the business is supported from an operational perspective to support customer requirements, whilst also maximizing value based on the commodity strategy. SB’s will benchmark and manage costs on and ongoing basis, inputting into the commodity strategy. Moreover, the SB will review and manage supplier performance, awarding work accordingly, in line with the commodity strategy.

Standard Tasks

  • Sourcing- Process RFQ and Cost Data for production and development Galleys, including any pricing disputes and PPV

  • Lead and manage minimal risk work transfers.

  • Support execution and implementation of gated work transfers

  • Manage effective communication with tactical counterpart

  • Use knowledge and supplier dealings to input into commodity strategy

  • Execute commodity strategies

  • Support Galley enablement

  • Manage Price Books and cost variances

  • Analyze demand and pricing to set appropriate order quantities and batch size

  • Review Supplier performance and agree plans with Commodity manager accordingly

  • Supplier selection based on the above factors, in consultation with commodity manager if required

  • Support Design to cost activities and execute these plans

  • Manage cost down activities and the tracking of financial impact to bottom line

  • Manage effective communication with key suppliers (weekly)

  • Cost analysis & benchmarking in line with commodity strategy

  • Review Supplier Capacity Details and plan accordingly

  • Monthly Supplier performance review and appropriate action plans.

  • Work alongside Commodity managers on problem solving analysis and implementing improvement plans (RCCA, DIVE where required)

  • Drive continuous improvement within their pool of suppliers and across the business

  • Respond and action commercial escalations as appropriate

  • Risk management, including appropriate assessment, mitigation, business cases with recommendations

  • Business Reviews and SRRM with key Suppliers

  • Adheres to participate in all EHS practices and standards across the site, including but not limited to proactive reporting of observed hazards and recommendations to ensure the safety and well-being of self and others.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of any Bachelor’s / College Degree in Engineering, Business Studies/Administration/ Management or equivalent

  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience.

  • Experience in sourcing and supplier management, including implementing cost savings

  • Confidence with cost management

  • Materials Management background MRP, ERP software.

  • Experience in a Materials Management or similar role.

  • Previous experience within a global purchasing environment, implementing strategies

  • Proven track record of achievement in a relevant position

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly data and cost management

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Must not have had any disciplinary case within the past year

  • Must not be under Performance Improvement Plan

  • With at least a year in his/her current position
