At our Prestwick Service Centre, we specialise in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) of aircraft engine nacelle systems and engine components. We are proud to serve a wide range of customers, delivering high-quality, reliable MRO services.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Engineering Team onsite as a Tooling Engineer.

What You Will Do

As a Tooling Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the manufacture, repair, and overhaul of nacelle systems and related components. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing tooling and lifting equipment to support manufacturing, repair, and design changes

  • Supporting overhaul activities across nacelle systems and other components

  • Calibrating tools and lifting equipment using laser tracking technology

  • Ensuring all tooling meets MRO, OEM, Type Certificate Holder, and regulatory requirements

  • Building strong working relationships across the business and with tooling subject matter experts at our California headquarters

  • Liaising with tooling manufacturers and procurement activities

  • Supporting the development of capital expenditure plans and business justifications

  • Ensuring compliance with all Collins policies and procedures, including EH&S, Code of Ethics, Intellectual Property, and Global Trade Compliance

What You Will Learn

  • Exposure to complex aerospace MRO tooling design within a regulated environment

  • Best practice tooling and calibration methods, including laser tracking technology

  • Collaboration with global engineering and tooling experts

  • Insight into capital planning and investment justification within an aerospace organisation

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Proven experience as a Tooling Engineer

  • Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering qualification (degree preferred)

  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office

  • Experience with computer aided drawing systems. CATIA V5 and Auto Desk/AutoCAD (preferred)

  • Ability to interpret and work with 2D and 3D design data

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Strong communication, organisational, and report-writing skills

  • Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate within a team

Desirable:

  • Aerospace industry experience (or transferable tooling design experience from a similar industry)

  • Experience with composite and metallic structures
