As a Music Therapist, you will provide comprehensive clinical music therapy services through assessment and treatment in accordance with the Scope of Practice established by the Certification Board for Music Therapists. In this role, you will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary care teams, assist with research initiatives as needed and support the development and evaluation of music therapy programs across the department. This position also includes providing music therapy services for hospice patients one day per week, requiring independent scheduling and travel to patient homes or care facilities. You will receive patient schedules in advance and coordinate appointments directly, offering compassionate and meaningful care in a variety of settings.
This is a PRN role. A caregiver in this position will work 48 hours in a 6-week period between hospice and Main Campus. 8 hours will be dedicated to working at hospice, with 16 hours dedicated to being on-site at Main Campus.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Design, implement and evaluate Music Therapy interventions to address the biopsychosocial needs of hospitalized patients and families as appropriate.
- Serve as clinical and educational resource for the hospital units and professional community regarding music therapy practice.
- Assist and participate in research as needed, working with teams to develop research topics and protocols, conducting research, gathering results and assisting in articles for submission.
- Assist Music Therapy Department as needed to develop and evaluate music therapy programs and initiatives.
- Coordinate therapy observation experiences, write reports and collaborate on other projects as needed.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from a program accredited by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA)

Music Therapist Board Certified (MT-BC) from the Certification Board for Music Therapists required

Licensed Professional Music Therapist (LPMT) through the state licensing board required
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross ; must be obtained within the first 90 days of hire
-
Valid Ohio Driver’s License upon hire; per policy 8-175 thereafter
-
Proof of automobile insurance coverage with $100,000/$300,000 upon hire; per policy 8-175 thereafter

One year of experience providing music therapy services (consideration will be made for time spent in practicum or internship providing music therapy services)

Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and musical skills
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Three years of experience providing Music Therapy in a hospital or healthcare setting
- Master's Degree in Music Therapy OR Master’s Degree in a related field (i.e., Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, etc.) if the candidate has a Bachelor's Degree
Physical Requirements:
- Standing and walking at least 75% of the time; sitting less than 25% of the time; hand and finger dexterity and reaching with arms and hands at least 75% of the time, close vision and depth perception at least 75% of the time; hearing and talking more than 80% of the time; and pushing and pulling at least 75% of the time.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
