ICU/Step-Down Unit Rotation: Interested in Critical Care but would like time to develop your critical thinking, assessment and team leader skills before diving fully into the ICU? The Cleveland Clinic is currently seeking innovative, adaptable and critical thinking Acute Care Nurse Practitioners to join us as we grow and develop our successful, NP led team of Acute Care Nurse Practitioners by providing high quality, acute care to patients under the Critical Care umbrella rotating between Step-Down and ICU at Avon Hospital. NP experience is preferred, however candidates with at least 3 years of experience as a Step Down, Emergency Room or Critical Care RN will be considered. Successful candidates will have a strong desire for autonomous practice and have the ability to function at the top of their license after training, fully integrating into a community hospital system where they have the ability to affect real change and improve patient outcomes with every interaction.
The Step-Down/ICU Intensive Care and Resuscitation House Officer will, with oversight from the critical care physician, develop and implement plans of care for acutely ill patients. These may include necessary testing, procedures and consultation with various specialties. This provider will also assist with Rapid Response and Code Blue efforts throughout the hospital in collaboration with additional Critical Care Nurse Practitioners. As you progress through your training, you will have the opportunity to obtain further procedural skills that will result in the ability to intubate, place central lines and arterial lines, and manage ventilators. Once fully credentialed you will be able to begin rotating into the ICU to gradually gain exposure to more acutely ill patients.

- Dedicated didactic time with presentations on applicable topics provided by experts in their field
- Dedicated time on their home unit with a focus on hands-on daily practice and professional growth and development.
- Multiple simulation days, progressive in nature, that provide real-life patient care scenarios in a safe environment for learning at Cleveland Clinic’s Simulation and Advanced Skills Center
