Cleveland Clinic Martin Health is a state-of-the-art healthcare system including three hospitals on Florida’s Treasure Coast. It is part of the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic, a nonprofit, multispecialty, academic medical center system that integrates clinical and hospital care with research and education.
We are seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to join our inpatient acute care team located across all three hospitals, providing evaluation and treatment for adult patients with swallowing, cognitive, speech, and language disorders. This role offers the opportunity to perform instrumental swallowing assessments including Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluations of Swallowing and Modified Barium Swallow Studies. You will apply your comprehensive skills and expertise to deliver outstanding care, helping patients enhance their quality of life and grow alongside a supportive, knowledgeable team dedicated to excellence in patient care.
A caregiver in this position works days starting from 6: 45 a.m. -- 4:30 p.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Evaluate patients and apply a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for the rehabilitation of patients with functional limitations, impairments and disorders.
- Provide, interpret, plan and supervise patient evaluations and treatments in accordance with the physician referral, ensuring the care, safety and wellbeing of the patient.
- Continually review the plan of care and make revisions as needed.
- Prepare progress reports on all treatments in conjunction with departmental policies and procedures and report to the physician as needed.
- Instruct and counsel medical staff and family members to assist the patient in treatment techniques.
- Perform voice evaluations, treatment of various voice disorders and bedside swallow evaluations.
- Demonstrate competency with the MBSs for adults and pediatrics.
- Follow Code Blue and all protocols as per Clinic policy.
- Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by Joint Commission.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Masters, Doctorate or SLP-D Degree from an accredited School of Speech-Language Pathology
- Registered and licensed in the State of Florida
- Current Speech-Language Pathology License (SP) from the State Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology or eligible
- Speech Pathologist (SP) license in current state
- Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American-Speech=Language Hearing Association (ASHA)
- Externship experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Experience with medical speech pathology
- Flexibility to float between sites
