As a Mammography Technologist in the Bone Density Unit, you will utilize your training and skills to assist physicians in the diagnostic process for various conditions. In this role, you will explain the procedure to patients, ensuring they feel informed and comfortable throughout the entire examination. Every day, your ability to interact with these patients and help put them at ease can leave a lasting positive impression. This is a regurlar PRN position, with caregivers working varying shifts between 6: 30AM- 5:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Review mammography requisition and computer exam forms to determine the type of exam required.

Accurately position patients, determine the exposure factors and operate mammography equipment to obtain a high-quality image.

Review processed images to determine quality and the need for additional images.
-
Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and the exam to ensure understanding and cooperation.
-
Ensure patient safety and comfort during and after the exam.
-
Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via CAD and PACS.
-
Complete after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork.
-
Report any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator.
-
Process billing via RIS.
-
Assist with all policies and procedures required by local, state and federal law and with compliance or credentialing bodies (ACR, MQSA, Medicare, Medicaid, FDA, etc.)

Assist with instrument calibration and records to ensure compliance with quality assurance requirements.
-
Perform equipment checks to assure proper function of and notify clinical engineering of any equipment malfunctions.
-
Ensure exam rooms are adequately supplied with linen and related medical supplies.
-
Provide teaching and mentoring to new hires and students.
-
Rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities, sites and/or locations as needed.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology
-
Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT) in good standing
-
Certification in Mammography: R.T.(R) (M) (ARRT)
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
-
State (RL) licensure by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
-
Knowledge of anatomy and related pathologic processes
-
Successful completion of 40 hours of Mammography Training
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist

Physical Requirements: This position requires a mixture of moderate to heavy work as defined in the Employee Health Services Policy.

Physical requirements include frequent walking, sitting and standing.

Frequent use of the phone, computer and fax machines.

Frequent pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling and crouching.

Mental Demands: Ability to work at a fast pace and to prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests and to work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team; ability to ensure operational efficiency; ability to problem solve and make decisions; ability to exercise self-control and tolerate stress when dealing with multiple requests and/or conflicting demands from multiple customers.

Special Demands: Needs minimal sustained direction in assessing needs, carrying out departmental and professional responsibilities; self-starting and self-motivating; working hours may exceed eight (8) hours per day and is based on what is needed to accomplish work at hand.
