Now, the Neurological Institute is expanding with a new state-of-the-art facility which will include additional operating rooms and ambulatory, infusion, imaging, EMG and sleep and brain study services. As a Physical Therapist in our Acute Care setting, you’ll play a vital role in delivering high-impact, patient-centered care across a wide range of inpatient units, including Cardiology, Orthopedics, Oncology, Critical Care, Med-Surgical, Neuro, and general acute care. You’ll work with a diverse patient population—from young adults to geriatric patients—supporting both surgical and non-surgical cases with varying levels of acuity. This is a highly collaborative, hands-on role where you’ll partner closely with PTs, OTs, PT/OT Assistants, physicians, and care coordinators to ensure seamless, timely, and compassionate care during critical moments in a patient’s recovery.
This opportunity is ideal for a Physical Therapist with acute care or acute rehab experience who thrives in a fast-paced inpatient environment and is looking to grow both clinically and professionally. You’ll gain exposure to complex cases, advanced care pathways, and multiple specialties while building expertise in acute-level rehabilitation. A caregiver in this position works FT/40hrs/days: 7:30am—4:00pm or 8:00am—4:30pm/holidays and weekend required.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Evaluate and conduct medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs.
-
Perform initial and ongoing assessments.
-
Establish, revise and evaluate plans of care.
-
Perform physical therapy interventions utilizing standard physical therapy techniques and skills appropriate for the patient’s age and condition.

Supervise the activities of physical therapy assistants, students and other support caregivers.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
-
Bachelor’s Degree or certificate
-
Graduate of a Physical Therapy program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association
-
Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT)
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Experience in a clinical area
Physical Requirements:
-
Ability to walk and climb stairs without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling.
-
Ability to meet physical demands characterized at the heavy level defined by 1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor.
-
Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program.
-
Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse.
-
Visual acuity to observe patient's gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements and to read all patient monitors.
-
Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families.
-
Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment.
