At Cleveland Clinic, the opportunities to learn more about Ophthalmology as the field continues to grow and advance are numerous. As an Ophthalmic Assistant, you will utilize the latest technology to assist fellow caregivers in providing vision care to patients. This position is an essential aspect of comprehensive treatment and wellness, and your work can make a lasting difference in your community every day.
A caregiver in this position works days from 7:30am to 4:00pm.A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Under the direction of supervisor or physician, receive and prepare patients for examination or treatment.
- May perform routine screening tests.
- Document patient information in the patient medical record.
- Perform stocking, maintenance and other duties as assigned, including maintaining exam rooms, equipment and supplies.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma/GED
- One year of experience in an Ophthalmic setting providing direct patient care OR formal education or training in Ophthalmology
- Knowledge of medical terminology
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Prior experience in OCT, Visual Field Testing and Contact Lens I&R
Physical Requirements:
- Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and PC.
- Ability to lift and transport up to 25 pounds.
- May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.
- Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
