The G80 Internal Medicine Unit offers internal medicine, telemetry, behavioral health and nutritional services. Caregivers in this unit gain exposure to various specializations, fostering strong assessments skills, a wealth of clinical knowledge and continuous learning. As an RN on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional care, from initial introduction to final send-off. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and deliver healthcare education as needed. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to propel your nursing career.

A caregiver in this position works day/evening/night/weekend, from 7: 00PM – 7:30AM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Collect, document and report patient data and observations.

  • Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions.

  • Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and observe patients for adverse reactions.

  • Perform routine laboratory tests.

  • Educate patients and family members.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate of an accredited practical or vocational nursing program

  • Current Ohio license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • One year of patient care experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires frequent walking from department to department; requires sitting at a workstation or desk; requires standing; work may include occasional pushing and/or pulling, lifting, and carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs., such as files, documents and computer printouts.

  • Work requires finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination to operate a computer keyboard at a moderate skill level.

  • Mental Demands: Ability to work at a fast pace and prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests; ability to resolve conflicts among staff and to work collaboratively with department directors, physicians and other members of the healthcare team; ability to ensure operational efficiency; ability to problem-solve and make decisions; ability to exercise self-control and tolerate stress when dealing with multiple requests and/or conflicting demands from multiple customers.

  • Special Demands: Needs minimal sustained direction in assessing needs, directing staff and carrying out departmental and professional responsibilities.

  • Self-starting and self-motivating; working hours may exceed eight (8) hours per day and is based on what is needed to accomplish work at hand.
