About the Business: Markets Operations
Citi's Markets Operations is a global organization with a presence in over 60 countries, supporting an extensive range of products and services including Fixed Income, Equities, FX, and Commodities. Our Operations groups are core to the success of the Markets business and have a significant impact across the lifecycle of a trade. We are on a multi-year journey to deliver a future state of Operations, encompassing end-to-end target operating model transformation, controls design, technology uplift, and data-driven process engineering. Our Process Engineering group works alongside our Operations teams to deliver automation solutions that solve operational challenges and transform our business to achieve its target operating model.
About the Role
We are seeking a senior leader to join our team as Director, Asia Head of Process Engineering, Markets Operations based in Tokyo. This executive role is accountable for providing strategic direction and oversight for complex and critical process engineering initiatives within the Asia region. You will direct a team of seasoned professionals to achieve strategic objectives and deliver measurable business impact.
In this role, you will be expected to:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to a regional team of approximately 10 process re-engineering professionals, fostering a high-performance culture and optimizing the team's location strategy.
- Define and execute a portfolio of high-impact business enablement and process engineering projects, ensuring alignment with global strategy and delivering measurable, sustainable operational efficiencies.
- Architect and drive the target state operating model and a granular roadmap for Markets Operations transformation in the Asia region, supervising performance to ensure all metrics and controls are in place.
- Champion the adoption of new technologies, particularly GenAI and automation, to drive innovation and create scalable solutions across the business.
- Act as a key strategic partner to senior stakeholders in the Asia region across Technology, Finance, Front Office, and other global and regional teams to ensure the seamless delivery of new initiatives and change projects.
- Represent Markets Operations in senior firm-wide governance forums, providing subject matter expertise and ensuring the function's strategic alignment with regional programs.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Extensive experience in a senior Operations leadership role within a major global bank, with a deep focus on Markets Operations, process engineering, or strategic transformation.
- A proven track record of architecting and delivering large-scale strategic change programs, leveraging technology and process redesign to transform global operations.
- Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement across a diverse, matrixed organization.
- Superior strategic and commercial acumen, with a sophisticated understanding of how technology supports business imperatives and the ability to develop and execute long-term strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to make sound, independent judgments on highly complex issues and serve as a senior escalation point for critical, time-sensitive decisions.
- Outstanding communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to negotiate and build consensus at the most senior levels of an organization.
- Strong business-level English and Japanese required
