Team/Role Overview:
Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS) is a market leading, award-winning provider of cash management, cards and trade, solutions to financial institutions, public sector, and corporate clients around the world. TTS is a highly innovative organisation with a strong growth agenda; new products and services are continuously being developed to meet our clients rapidly evolving treasury requirements and unlock new opportunities.. One of key divisions of TTS is the Export & Agency Finance (“EAF”) team.
EAF arranges short, medium, and long-term structured financings with the support of Official Agencies (including export credit agencies (“ECAs”), development finance institutions (“DFIs”) and multilateral development banks (“MDBs”) to Citi’s Banking and Commercial Banking client base. EAF operates as a global platform which has the ability to structure, arrange, underwrite, syndicate, and lend under bespoke debt financings that defease risk through credit and political risk support from Official Agencies and/or access their funding, lending, or interest support programs.
EAF is implementing a growth plan with a view to significantly increase the number of transactions it originates and executes each year. To support in the ramp up of activities, EAF intends to expand its distribution function which supports the global originations business. The role will be for a Vice President level candidate, based out of London. The successful candidate will:
a) support the Head of Distribution in pricing EAF transactions and pre-planning the distribution strategy for all transactions that are submitted for approval
b) maintain market data to support pricing and distribution analysis
c) support the Head of Distribution in investor meetings including the preparation of meeting materials and research
d) assist in execution of the exposure transfer process and
e) support EAF’s secondary sales agenda including preparation of transfer documentation and process management.
Citi is active in all major ECA markets through on-the-ground presence and through its regional hubs. The distribution functions support all regions.
What you’ll do:
Industry Coverage to include Public Sector, Metals & Mining, Shipping & Transportation, Power, Oil & Gas, Telecom, Infrastructure, Financial Institutions, Aviation, Defence, and all sectors linked to the energy transition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain market intelligence databases including call reporting and transaction precedent library.
- Undertake market research to support market capacity analysis to underpin distribution strategies.
- Draft supporting materials for Risk approvals.
- Assist the Head of Distribution in preparing meeting notes and maintaining call reports in EAF investor database.
- Assist origination teams in market engagement including:Preparation and execution of NDAs.
- Preparation of Market Teaser, Invitation, and Information Memoranda packs.
- Management of syndication process including maintenance of Debt Domain sites.
- Management of investor Q&A process.
- Preparation of transfer documentation including consents, transfer/assignment certificates, fee letters, and trade confirmations.
- Preparation of syndication allocation recommendations.
- Where applicable calculation of Distribution Stress Loss.
- Assist the Head of Distribution in preparation of marketing materials to support origination.
- Market research to identify investors for secondary sales.
- Preparation of Day One Fee calculation advice for finance.
- Reporting of secondary sales fee release events for consolidation with EAF primary Day One fee events.
What we’ll need from you:
- Excellent knowledge of the Export & Agency Finance business, with experience in dealing with export credit, development finance, and/or multilateral agencies.
- Up to date knowledge of the EAF market, including borrowers, exporters, and investors.
- Track record in executing transactions in developed and emerging markets, especially with sovereign / public sector clients.
- Understanding of funding options available in the context of long-term loan transactions supported by Official Agencies.
- Experience in debt structuring, arranging, and syndication in relation to transactions supported by Official Agencies.
- Understanding of credit risk and processes.
- Loan documentation experience.
- Project management/execution.
- Asset/Infrastructure and/or project finance experience is an advantage.
- Superior analytical skills.
- Ability to form strategic partnerships with other partners, both external and internal.
- Ability to operate on multiple transactions simultaneously.
