The Intellectual Property Paralegal is a non-attorney role, responsible for providing legal support to the Citi Technology, Operations & Privacy Legal team, which covers technology transactions, digital banking, intellectual property, cybersecurity, and data privacy. The team also focuses on issues surrounding AI and emerging technologies.  This role requires a pragmatic, proactive professional with an understanding of and/or interest in these subject matter areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct legal support activities related to technology transactions, digital banking, intellectual property, cybersecurity, data privacy, AI, and emerging technologies

  • Assist attorneys with managing Citi’s global portfolio of trademarks, which may include trademark docketing; managing trademark clearance, renewals, and agreements; reviewing marketing content for proper trademark use; and supporting trademark and copyright enforcement matters.

  • Assist attorneys with patent docketing, administrative patent tasks, and database updates and queries

  • Perform analytical work and legal research while staying abreast of new and changing regulatory and legal issues and industry initiatives

  • Create, maintain, process, review, and track legal documentation and templates under direction of counsel

  • Prepare reports and conduct administrative legal work, including project management and processing of billing matters

  • Execute multiple and complex tasks, often under tight deadlines

  • Consider process improvements, including responsible use of AI, to assist in the completion of job responsibilities

  • Work closely with attorneys, team manager, and legal peers to complete assigned tasks

  • Help safeguard Citigroup, its clients, and assets by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations; applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct, and business practices; and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency

Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of relevant industry experience, preferably with some experience working in a corporate legal department or law firm

  • Experience with, or interest in, intellectual property preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, timeliness, efficiency, responsiveness, and workload management

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook

  • Knowledge of legal customs and practices

  • Knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced and high-volume practice, prioritize competing demands, and problem solve creatively

Education:

  • Bachelors/University degree or equivalent experience.
