The Head of Learning & Development for Wealth & US Consumer Card – Managing Director (MD) is a senior leader responsible for formulating and leading the learning and development strategy specifically for the Wealth and US Consumer Cards (USCC) businesses. As a member of the Global Learning & Development Leadership Team, this role will advise on and implement learning opportunities that are directly aligned with business strategy and priorities. The Head will partner closely with senior business, Human Resources (HR), Talent, and Learning colleagues to achieve desired results, ensuring employees are prepared for success both today and in the future. This position reports to the Head of Learning (Chief Learning Officer) and works in close partnership with Senior Human Resource Officers for the Wealth and USCC businesses/functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate and lead the comprehensive Learning & Development strategy for the Wealth and USCC businesses, ensuring alignment with global learning agendas and specific business goals.
- Partner closely with Senior Human Resource Officers, the HR Operating Committee, and business leaders within Wealth and USCC to define goals, negotiate budgets, establish overall learning strategy, benchmark against external firms, and integrate cutting-edge learning practices.
- Drive a performance-based learning approach to skill enablement and knowledge acquisition, ensuring that learning solutions directly support business/functional objectives and company priorities, producing desired impacts and outcomes. This includes consulting to identify root causes of business needs, crafting learning solutions that leverage performance support tools, optimizing learner experience, devising content strategies for consistent messaging, and using performance mapping and measurement to track progress.
- Manage and lead multiple teams of learning professionals responsible for identifying, designing, facilitating and delivering learning offerings, leveraging internal subject matter experts and both internal and external training providers. This includes overseeing high-volume, scalable, multi-component outputs such as new hire training and systems training.
- Drive innovation across the learning function with deep understanding of Generative Ai and the possibilities it brings
- Personally deliver advanced leadership, communications, and professional development topics as appropriate.
- Collaborate with business partnership and HR colleagues to establish and oversee a robust learning governance approach that promotes alignment with enterprise learning policies and standards.
- Rigorously evaluate all learning activities to determine its impact on business outcomes and revise strategies and offerings based on insights gained.
- Stay abreast of the latest external market trends in learning and development, anticipate their impact on future capability requirements for Wealth and USCC, and communicate those needs to relevant teams and partners.
- Manage the holistic learning budget for the Wealth and USCC areas.
- Appropriately assess risk when making business decisions, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding the organization, its clients, and assets by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications
Knowledge/Experience:
- 15+ years of experience in Training, Learning & Development, or Organizational Development roles, with at least 10+ years in a managerial capacity leading large teams (e.g., ~100 headcount) and managing commensurate budget responsibilities.
- Excellent client relationship and consulting skills with senior leaders in HR and the business.
- Deep experience in Financial Services industry
- In-depth familiarity and understanding of Wealth Management, Consumer Banking, and US Consumer Cards businesses.
- Demonstrated record of operational excellence and ability to effectively drive work forward in a highly complex matrix environment.
- Proven experience in organizational change management.
- Strong leadership, organizational design, and talent development skills, ensuring appropriate staffing and organizational structures.

Education
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field required.
- MBA or other advanced degree strongly preferred.
