Overview of the Role:
The Applications Development Senior Group Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in an effort to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology Team. The overall objective of this role is to drive applications systems analysis and programming activities.
Responsibilities:
- Own the end-to-end technology strategy, architecture, and delivery for wealth-lending platforms, including securities-based lending, margin lending, structured credit, mortgages, and bespoke lending solutions.
- Lead the design and evolution of lending portfolio management tools, enabling real-time visibility into exposures, collateral coverage, utilization, concentration, and risk across client and portfolio reviews.
- Drive the development of margin lending value calculators and analytics, supporting pricing, profitability, risk-adjusted returns, capital efficiency, and client decisioning.
- Remain hands-on with critical architecture, complex analytics design, code reviews, and high-impact delivery decisions, setting a high technical and analytical bar.
- Apply exceptional analytical thinking and fluid intelligence to solve ambiguous, multi-dimensional problems spanning lending economics, risk, capital, and regulatory constraints.
- Translate complex wealth-lending, margin, collateral, and regulatory requirements into resilient, extensible platforms and data models.
- Partner closely with senior business, risk, finance, and operations stakeholders to align portfolio analytics, margin economics, and platform capabilities with commercial and risk objectives.
- Lead and scale a large, globally distributed engineering organization, driving accountability, strong execution discipline, and a culture of engineering excellence.
- Balance near-term delivery commitments with long-term platform sustainability, ensuring scalability, resiliency, and technical de are actively managed.
- Establish and govern engineering standards across security, performance, data quality, model transparency, and regulatory compliance in a highly controlled environment.
- Leverage deep wealth-lending domain expertise to identify opportunities for straight-through processing, automation, margin optimization, and improved portfolio outcomes.
- Use telemetry, metrics, and data-driven insights to measure platform health, portfolio performance, margin utilization, delivery predictability, and operational risk.
- Drive multi-year modernization initiatives, including cloud adoption, API-first and event-driven architectures, and analytics platform integration.
- Build, mentor, and retain senior engineering leaders, creating a strong leadership bench and succession pipeline.
- Own delivery outcomes across multiple concurrent programs, ensuring predictable execution, transparent communication, and high-quality results.
- Influence firm-wide technology and analytics strategy by articulating trade-offs, investment priorities, and long-term value creation.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of relevant experience; 8-10+ years of managerial experience preferred
- PMP Certification, MBA, Specific to business Licenses and other
- Experience with financial products
- Working knowledge of the industry and competitors’ products and services
- Advanced knowledge of strategic direction of the function within relevant part of the business
- Proficient computer skills with a focus on Microsoft Office applications
- Demonstrated leadership, management, and development skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master’s degree preferred
Technical Qualifications:
- Experience delivering platforms using microservices, API-first architectures, event-driven frameworks (Kafka/Pulsar), and real‑time analytics tools.
- Strong experience with cloud or hybrid-cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including containerization (Kubernetes, Docker, Open Shift) and cloud‑native design patterns.
