The U.S. Consumer Cards Finance organization is part of Citi’s US Personal Banking Finance organization and supports the US Branded Cards business, one of the largest credit card businesses in the US. The US Branded Cards business continues to focus on growing and expanding its products across its Proprietary and Co-Branded offerings, radically digitizing and optimizing customer experiences, and managing emerging payment solutions. The Value & Lending Finance function supports both the Value & Lending Business Head, General Managers of sub-product lines, and the LFO of the US Branded Cards business. The organization provides financial and analytical support for a portion of US Proprietary Branded Cards such as Simplicity, Diamond Preferred, and Personal Installment Loans. In addition to those products, the team also provides financial support for lending programs including, Flex Loan, Flex Pay, and other customer borrowing programs. The team is responsible for providing business counsel & strategic support, analyzing financial data, supplying executive management with insights to make informed decisions, and providing other internal and external stakeholders with the transparency to understand the dynamics driving the business. The group works closely with the US Cards Line of Business to understand the financial results and drive performance on both a tactical day to day basis, as well as long term strategic decisions such as development and launch of new products.
Position Summary
The Value & Lending Lead Finance Officer will report into the Lead Finance Officer for the US Branded Cards business and directly support the Head of Value & Lending within the Branded Cards & Lending business. This role will have responsibility for driving performance for Citi’s Value & Lending portfolio along with other customer borrowing programs. The candidate will provide business counsel and work cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Risk, Accounting, Analytics, and Finance to determine the strategy for the portfolio, as well as being responsible for ensuring for portfolio achieves its short and long-term financial goals through prudent investment decision making and on-going financial management.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Value & Lending Product team through daily business counsel, analysis, forecasting, strategic planning, and business development activities. Provide all aspects of financial oversight including budgeting, reporting and planning.
Work with Product leadership to manage through financial issues and to achieve strategic and tactical financial targets.
Partner cross-functionally with Business leadership to assess business drivers, P&L performance and to maintain a high standard of controls.
Develop analytical frameworks and create business cases to support financially sound strategic decisions for product related investments and changes to customer product offerings and pricing.
Accountability for oversight and management of the forecasted marketing investment decisioning processes.
Drive Expense discipline and evaluate critical investment opportunities.
Monitor and analyze the performance of the portfolio versus expectations and effectively communicate performance to Card and Finance Senior Management with clear, timely updates through periodic business reviews.
Represent Finance at Business forums.
Prepare presentations for Senior Management with insights on product portfolio performance.
Along with business partners, drive key strategic initiatives aimed at optimizing returns
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, professional accounting certification and/or MBA preferred
15+ years of relevant experience in financial services with a focus in consumer banking, preferably in a large complex organization with responsibilities across multiple businesses
Conversant in accounting, treasury, tax and legal implications with regards to decisions being made on product financials
Ability to build strong relationships and interact at all levels in the organization
Experience managing, leading, and developing a small, high performing team
Strategic thinker with ability to work independently with business partners
Ability to influence senior executives while working through conflict and ambiguity
Excellent interpersonal, communication (written, presentation, verbal) and leadership skills with a strong attention to detail
Strong financial excel modeling skills with the ability to drive top down strategic and operational plans
