Overview:

The Global Lending Operations (“GLO”) Reconciliation Governance and Controls Sr. Analyst role will bring experience in performing analysis of data and understanding of the source causing reconciliation breaks. This role requires an understanding of operational flows for commercial lending products and excellent communication skills, which are required to identify themes causing reconciliation breaks across various loan processing groups within GLO.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for executing governance, controls, and the resolution of reconciliation breaks resulting from loan processing activity
  • Support business initiatives related to GLO reconciliation systems and product processors
  • Review complex reconciliation breaks and related data/loan documentation while providing support to a variety of tasks related to the loan process
  • Independently reconcile, research, and resolve priority remediation activities (e.g., cash breaks)
  • Execute key controls to ensure appropriate reconciliation break remediation
  • Perform root cause analysis of reconciliation breaks and partner with stakeholders to analyze possible enhancements or process changes to reduce outstanding breaks
  • Enrich system data to streamline and enhance accuracy of reconciliation activities
  • Resolve problems by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of technical experience
  • Partner with key stakeholders to monitor and risk assess outstanding reconciliation breaks, including the determination of impacts to financial reporting
  • Make recommendations to management to support process improvement
  • Make evaluative judgments based on the analysis of factual information and provide assistance in the implementation of loan documentation process improvements
  • Minimize risk to the bank through increased knowledge of procedural requirements - understand and monitor errors to suggest solutions to reduce errors and adhere to audit and control policies
  • Accountable for integrity of process, operations, and associated results
  • Involved in the coaching, training, and providing guidance and support to junior members of the team
  • Ability to build strong relationships and interact at all levels in the organization
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience within financial services industry
  • English proficiency (spoken and written) required
  • Knowledge of loan operations, commercial lending products, transactions, processes, product processors, and related accounting principles and practices
  • High degree of numeracy, an analytical approach to tasks and problem-solving skills are essential
  • Experience with commercial lending technology and related reconciliation and accounting flows (Loan IQ, Flexcube, Transaction Lifecycle Management preferred)
  • Experience with general ledger and subledger systems (eRecon, FullSuite preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to identify, mitigate, manage, resolve, and escalate risks and issues
  • Extensive experience utilizing Microsoft Office applications (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word) is required
  • Awareness of risk types, policies and control measures and processes
  • Critical thinker with the ability to make comprehensive decisions that will positively affect the Lending Operations organization
  • Deliver results and able to meet tight deadlines

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree, Finance degree preferred or similar discipline
