We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Fin Ops Solution Architect with a specialized focus on Digital Workspace and Client Services Infrastructure. This role is crucial for optimizing cloud spending, enhancing financial accountability, and fostering collaboration across engineering, finance, operations, and client services teams within our digital workspace environments. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of cloud platforms, digital workspace technologies (VDI, DaaS, SaaS), client services infrastructure, and financial management principles, coupled with a strong ability to drive cost efficiency and governance.
Responsibilities
- Strategy & Architecture: Develop and champion the Fin Ops strategy and roadmap specifically tailored for digital workspace and client services infrastructure, aligning it with overall business and technology objectives.
- Design and implement scalable Fin Ops frameworks, policies, and processes for cloud cost management across various digital workspace components (e.g., Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, Desktop-as-a-Service, SaaS applications, and client-facing network services) across multiple cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Architect and oversee the implementation of cloud cost visibility, allocation, and optimization tools and platforms relevant to digital workspaces and client services.
- Define and standardize cost reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and showback/chargeback mechanisms for shared digital workspace resources and client service consumption.
- Cost Optimization & Governance: Identify and drive cloud cost optimization opportunities specific to digital workspaces, including rightsizing virtual desktops, optimizing storage for user profiles, managing software licensing for VDI/DaaS, optimizing network egress for client services, and leveraging appropriate cloud purchasing models (reserved instances, savings plans) for consistent digital workspace loads.
- Establish and enforce cloud governance policies related to cost, resource provisioning, and tagging for digital workspace and client services infrastructure.
- Implement anomaly detection and alert systems for unusual spending patterns within the digital workspace environment.
- Collaborate with digital workspace engineering and client services teams to embed cost awareness and optimization into the lifecycle of digital workspace deployments and service delivery.
- Collaboration & Enablement: Act as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor to digital workspace engineering, client services, finance, and business stakeholders on Fin Ops best practices within the digital workspace domain.
- Foster a culture of cost accountability and efficiency across teams responsible for digital workspaces and client service delivery.
- Provide training and education to teams on Fin Ops principles, tools, and processes relevant to digital workspace cost management.
- Facilitate regular Fin Ops reviews and discussions with key stakeholders for digital workspace spending.
- Tooling & Automation: Evaluate, select, and integrate Fin Ops tools and platforms, including those with capabilities for VDI cost management, SaaS spend optimization, and client services infrastructure monitoring.
- Drive automation initiatives for cost optimization tasks and reporting within the digital workspace and client services landscape.
- Reporting & Analytics: Develop and deliver insightful reports and dashboards on digital workspace and client services cloud spending trends, forecasts, and optimization efforts.
- Analyze complex cloud billing data to identify cost drivers and inefficiencies specifically related to virtual desktops, applications, and network usage by client services.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Finance, Business, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- **Experience:**12+ years of experience in cloud architecture, engineering, or operations, with at least 3-5 years focused specifically on cloud financial management (Fin Ops).
- Proven experience designing and implementing Fin Ops strategies and solutions in large-scale cloud environments, with a strong emphasis on digital workspace and client services infrastructure.
- In-depth knowledge of at least one major public cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP) billing, cost management, and optimization services, particularly as they apply to VDI, DaaS, and SaaS solutions.
- Hands-on experience with digital workspace infrastructure technologies such as (Email, Share Point, Teams, Intune, O365 suite, SCCM, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, VMware Horizon, Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or similar DaaS/VDI/SaaS platforms.
- Experience with Fin Ops tools and platforms (e.g., Apptio Cloud ability, native cloud cost management tools) and/or specialized tools for digital workspace cost analytics.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts such as budgeting, forecasting, ROI, and TCO, applied to digital workspace investments.
- Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data from various digital workspace consumption models.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams, including client services and end-user computing teams.
- Ability to translate technical concepts into business terms and vice-versa.
- Certifications such as Fin Ops Certified Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Professional Cloud Architect are highly desirable, as are certifications related to VDI/DaaS platforms (e.g., VMware VDI Virtualization).
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for automation and data analysis, especially for resource management.
- Knowledge of agile methodologies.
