About the Role
As the Asset Setup and Valuation Manager, you will assume full leadership and supervisory responsibility, guiding your team with critical operational and service direction. You will apply your in-depth disciplinary knowledge in asset setup and valuation to provide value-added perspectives, driving innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement within our processes. This role involves close collaboration with our Change Management and Technology teams to develop and implement new initiatives, including RPA solutions and strategic plans, directly influencing the overall performance and effectiveness of the Operations function.
You will be expected to take full accountability for the volume, quality, and timeliness of your team's deliverables, ensuring that high standards of execution are consistently met. A core responsibility is fostering a high-performance culture by actively motivating and supporting the continuous professional development of team members. Leading by example, you will champion ownership and accountability. Furthermore, you will manage all facets of employee relations, encompassing performance evaluations, compensation reviews, hiring, disciplinary actions, and terminations, while effectively overseeing daily tasks and responsibilities to achieve efficient workflow and strategic goals.
This critical position requires demonstrated experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity, coupled with profound knowledge relevant to asset setup and valuation. Exceptional communication and diplomacy skills are paramount for effective engagement with both internal and external stakeholders. A proven ability to co-partner effectively with cross-functional teams, particularly within Change Management and Technology, is essential, alongside robust organizational skills necessary for managing multiple priorities and complex workflows.
Responsibilities:
- Execute day-to-day business operations functions on onboarding securities with utmost due diligence and performing maintenance effectively per the agreed TAT and SLA.
- Ensure asset valuation covering agreed current market standards is performed in adherence to operational proedure and controls for appropriate client Asset Valuation.
- Manage day-to-day operational functions, ensuring effective execution by the team with necessary checks and controls.
- Work with Risk and Governance functions/team to ensure no operational gaps in the business unit.
- Formulate procedures and techniques, and contribute to the development of new approaches that increase team productivity, reduce risk, and ensure the team meets or exceeds performance goals.
- Serve as an SME, acting as an analytical and procedural expert, and as the first point of escalation for staff members, management, and internal/external clients.
- Timely reporting and escalation of operational Metrics/complaints/defects to Senior management and Stakeholders as needed.
- Identify control gaps during securities onboarding, maintenance, and valuation procedures, and implement appropriate solutions to mitigate any risk, control losses, or financial losses.
- Analyze data to identify control deficiencies and resolve discovered issues by implementing appropriate procedures.
- Act as a buddy, advisor, coach, and mentor to new/junior staff.
- Appropriately assess risk when making business decisions, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets. This involves driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations; adhering to policy; applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct, and business practices; escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency; effectively supervising the activity of others; and creating accountability for those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
- Intermediate to senior-level experience in a related role.
- 12-14 years of experience with 4-5 years of people management experience.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with market data streams/Platforms like Bloomberg, Telekurs, Reuters, ICE, and FactSet, specifically pertaining to Security Master, Pricing, and Corporate Action functions.
- Understanding of Custody Model Wealth Investments Operations functions, with knowledge of end-to-end Security Life Cycle management.
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
