The Applications Development Senior Programmer Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for participation in the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to applications systems analysis and programming activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of robust, scalable full-stack applications using Python and Java across various services and platforms.
  • Drive technical projects from inception through deployment, ensuring high quality, performance, and adherence to architectural standards.
  • Collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams, product owners, and architects to translate business requirements into technical solutions and define feature specifications.
  • Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering best practices in coding, testing, and system design, and promoting a culture of technical excellence.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews, ensuring code quality, security, and maintainability, while also providing constructive feedback to peers.
  • Spearhead efforts in debugging, performance tuning, and optimizing complex systems, resolving critical technical issues efficiently.
  • Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, tools, CI/CD pipelines, and overall system architecture.
  • Architect and implement solutions involving various database systems (relational and NoSQL), sophisticated APIs, and complex third-party integrations.
  • Oversee the deployment, monitoring, and operational support of applications in production environments, ensuring high availability and reliability.
  • (Preferred) Lead the development, integration, and operationalization of machine learning models and pipelines, incorporating MLOps best practices.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive professional experience in full-stack software development.
  • Proficiency in Java: Expert-level command of Java 8+ and the broader Java ecosystem, including advanced Java features.
  • Extensive experience with enterprise frameworks like Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and related modules for building resilient, distributed microservices architectures.
  • Strong understanding of JVM performance tuning, memory management, and garbage collection.
  • Proficiency with build automation tools such as Maven or Gradle.
  • Fullstack Development & Architecture: Proven experience with modern frontend technologies including HTML5, CSS3, and advanced JavaScript/TypeScript, along with significant experience in at least one leading frontend framework (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).
  • Expertise in designing, implementing, and optimizing complex database schemas for both relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis).
  • Demonstrated experience with ORM/ODM frameworks (e.g., SQLAlchemy, Hibernate) and advanced database query optimization.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful API design principles, GraphQL, and microservices architecture patterns.
  • General Technical & Leadership Skills: Expertise in version control systems, especially Git, including advanced branching strategies and workflow management.
  • Extensive experience with designing, implementing, and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
  • Proficient in containerization technologies (Docker) and container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes), including deployment strategies and cluster management.
  • Deep understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and experience in designing and deploying cloud-native applications, utilizing various cloud services.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills, with the ability to tackle complex architectural challenges.
  • Proven ability to lead technical discussions, make informed architectural decisions, and drive consensus within a team.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
