The Senior Technical Development Lead will assume a pivotal role in the conceptualization, development, and deployment of intricate software solutions for the Customer and Common Data Platform in Data Solutions group. This position primarily leverages Java, complemented by Python for scripting, data analysis, automation, and seamless integration within our expansive ecosystem. This individual will serve as both a hands-on contributor and a technical leader, tasked with guiding architectural choices, upholding stringent code quality standards, and cultivating an environment of technical distinction within the team.

Job Responsibilities

  • Spearhead the architecture, development, and deployment of resilient, scalable, and high-performance applications and services, predominantly in Java and Python, actively incorporating advanced AI technologies to optimize code generation and boost efficiency.

  • Employ Python for automation scripting, data processing, machine learning integration, and API creation as required, utilizing AI-driven coding tools to accelerate development timelines.

  • Function as a technical mentor and leader for software engineers, offering guidance on leading practices, code integrity, design paradigms, problem-solving methodologies, and the effective utilization of AI-assisted development platforms.

  • Orchestrate architectural dialogues and decisions for both nascent and established systems, ensuring alignment with the overarching company technical roadmap.

  • Possess expertise in crafting scalable and high-performance systems using micro-services and event-driven architecture.

  • Perform thorough code reviews to ensure compliance with coding guidelines, enhance performance, and maintain system stability.

  • Collaborate closely with product management, QA, DevOps, and other engineering departments to delineate requirements, scope projects, and guarantee successful project delivery.

  • Identify and implement avenues for system enhancements, performance tuning, and the reduction of technical debt.

  • Advocate for software development best practices, including continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), automated testing strategies, and comprehensive observability.

  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical challenges across diverse environments, ensuring prompt solutions.

  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, assessing and recommending their adoption when advantageous, especially within the domain of AI-driven development.

Qualifications Required

  • A minimum of 10 years of extensive professional experience in software development, with a primary emphasis on Java.

  • Demonstrated track record in a technical leadership or lead developer capacity, responsible for guiding development teams and championing technical initiatives.

  • Profound expertise in Java, encompassing Java 8 features, the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring Security), and associated technologies.

  • Verifiable experience with Python for scripting, automation, data manipulation, or backend system development.

  • Proven ability to leverage AI-powered coding assistants, such as GitHub Copilot or similar platforms, to achieve efficient and high-quality Java and Python code creation.

  • Comprehensive grasp of object-oriented design principles, established design patterns, data structures, and algorithmic solutions.

  • Practical experience with both relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Cassandra, MongoDB, Redis).

  • Competence in designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices architectural patterns.

  • Familiarity with message queues and brokers (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ).

  • Solid understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native application development practices (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).

  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical thinking, and debugging capabilities.

  • Experience with test automation frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, and Py Test.

  • Strong interpersonal communication, collaborative skills, and leadership acumen, coupled with the capacity to influence and guide others.

Additional expereince Preferred

  • Frontend technologies (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js) is considered beneficial.

  • Optimizing performance and tuning large-scale systems.

  • Previous engagement in Agile/Scrum environments, including sprint planning and retrospective sessions.

  • Appian workflow development or integration.

  • Current or Previous experience in the Fin Tech sector is desirable.

Education

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
