Global Legal Solutions (GLS) provides operational support to Citi's Global Legal Department, enabling the delivery of innovative solutions and services. Comprising a diverse global team, GLS leverages expertise in legal, financial, technology, and operational domains. Legal Program Services (LPS), a unit within GLS, supports Citi's Global Legal function by delivering programs and projects across the Legal Department.

A Senior Project Manager is sought to lead various business-critical, and strategic initiatives within the Legal Department. This role involves leading multiple project & workstreams, analyzing processes, gathering information from diverse stakeholders, and developing and presenting strategic recommendations for complex business challenges. Key project management responsibilities include facilitating plan development, defining success criteria, tracking deliverables, providing oversight to junior colleagues, preparing materials for governance forums, and managing key internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Legal, implementation teams, central project management offices, technology partners, legal data specialists, and external legal counsel to ensure the timely and successful execution of initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

The individual will be responsible for operating business-critical and strategic initiatives, with a focus on the following areas:

Delivery

  • Establish, design, and deliver projects within the Legal Program Services portfolio, integrating process, operations, technology, and leveraging AI in solution definition.
  • Lead the facilitation, coordination, and arbitration of cross-functional topics within and across programs, engaging with Senior Management to ensure successful delivery.
  • Coach and guide a matrix team of business analysts and project managers to achieve project objectives.
  • Manage delivery requirements with supporting business analysts, project managers, consultants, contractors, and vendor teams, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure program success.

Stakeholder Engagement & Influence:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with legal stakeholders throughout program and project delivery, fostering an environment of collaboration, connectivity, creativity, and mutual respect across teams.

Risk and Control Frameworks:

  • Drive adherence to program processes, procedures, methods, and standards for program delivery, ensuring consistent application across all initiatives.
  • Define, manage, and operate Legal delivery requirements, including planning, risk, assumption, issue, and dependency (RAID) management, governance, and coordination of day-to-day project and program activities, adhering to structured delivery principles.
  • Oversee and design effective approaches to successfully conclude multiple legal workstreams.
  • Ensure change management principles are applied and understood by all impacted stakeholders for every implementation.
  • Operate as a Legal Program Services lead within strategic locations, fostering strong relationships with GLS business partners and Legal stakeholders.
  • Develop, track, and maintain comprehensive project plans, including providing regular and accurate management reporting and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Estimate budget, timescales, and resource requirements for the successful completion of each project within agreed scope and constraints.
  • Manage risk assessments for changes in a controlled manner, communicating changes, enhancements, and modifications through appropriate governance and management channels (e.g., project managers, vendor teams, sponsors, Citi’s central regulatory coordination team, and other impacted stakeholders) to ensure clear understanding of impact, issues, and solutions.

Business Analysis

  • Utilize strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills to guide teams in developing holistic and robust end-to-end (E2E) solutions that align with organizational strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with Legal Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and business functions to gather, analyze, document, and validate requirements, creating Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) using recognized techniques (e.g., workshops, interviewing, process mapping, process, and data analysis).
  • Map 'as-is' and 'to-be' business states, identify opportunities for improvement, evaluate options for change, model different scenarios, analyze the impacts of change, and summarize viable options and recommendations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant industry experience, preferably with some experience working in financial services
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and project management skills, as well as the ability to interact and communicate effectively with Senior management

  • Bachelors/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
