Cisco Hardware Engineers develop and work with Next Generation Technology to build Cisco Hardware products keeping in mind the user experience and in accordance with IEEE standards, and industry best practices. Hardware Engineers serve a range of roles at Cisco from IP Creators and architects creating industry standards, to Solution Integrators driving cross-functional teams to go from concept to production, as well as providing expertise in Solution Verification and ensuring that our products meet Cisco and Industry quality standards. They drive innovation across the large CISCO portfolio, including but not limited to System/Board Design, Circuit Board Layout, Hardware Automation, Validation and Test, Signal Integrity and Power Design. They work cross functionally with system designers, diagnostics engineers, customer escalation engineers, & external vendors to ensure robust test methodology & timely issue mitigation resulting in high product quality and enable next generation solutions. They drive innovation across Cisco's hardware portfolio and enables next generation solutions through IP development, research, and challenging the status quo within the industry (finding ways to optimize cost, performance, and quality)
What You’ll Do:
- Advanced experienced professional using best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services.
- Works independently but receives minimal guidance and direction from leader then determines best approach to accomplish work.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
- Requires solid conceptual and practical knowledge in primary technical job family and knowledge of related technical job families; has worked with a range of technologies.
- Understands project and/or department needs and establishes relationships with appropriate cross-functional stakeholders to gather input, collect information and complete work steps.
- May lead projects from end-to end, while also executing work as a primary contributor
- Drives medium features from technical design through completion.
- Contributes to the Hardware Engineering strategy within the group.
- Drives hardware specification and design review process.
- Proactively identifies and recommends innovative approaches to design strategy, using a broader knowledge of the industry and end-user experience.
- Leads the delivery of high quality design of features and deliverables.
- Develops testing rules and strategy to ensure high performance of hardware.
- Develops approach to issue resolution.
- Ensures that products meet both Cisco standards, as well as industry quality standards.
- Plans, and guides the production, installation and configuration of medium to complex hardware products.
- Resolves medium to complex installation/configuration issues.
- Mentors peers or more junior team members.
- Assists other engineers through code reviews, documentation, and technical guidance.
Minimum qualification:
Bachelors + 7 years of related experience, or Masters + 4 years of related experience, or PhD + 1 year of related experience.
