Your Impact

As an Engineering Manager, you will:

  • Lead and manage the daily activities of a high-performing software engineering team responsible for delivering software improvements and new products, including cloud-based and internet-related tools.

  • Drive improvements and optimizations in engineering processes and infrastructure to ensure an exceptional experience for engineering teams building Cisco products.

  • Uphold coding standards, conduct design reviews, and ensure compliance with quality and performance standards.

  • Solve complex or escalated technical challenges and guide the team in structured work using agile or other modern development principles.

  • Oversee project areas from requirements gathering through to execution, providing leadership in design, coding, debugging, testing, troubleshooting, and threat modeling.

  • Monitor adherence to procedures, policies, and standards, providing feedback and coaching as needed.

  • Participate in product roadmap discussions and collaborate with multi-functional teams to address immediate technical issues and influence development priorities.

  • Engage with customers and internal stakeholders to gather feedback, ensuring it is incorporated into future designs and deployments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field plus 7 years of related experience, OR

  • Master’s degree plus 4 years of related experience, OR

  • PhD plus 1 year of related experience.

  • Previous supervisory or team lead experience.

  • Experience leading software development, software systems, or software quality assurance functions.

  • Familiarity with agile or modern development methodologies.

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.

  • Experience managing teams working on cloud-based or internet-related software products.

  • Demonstrated expertise in software process optimization, DevOps, or engineering enablement initiatives.

  • Experience with structured code review processes, threat modeling, and secure coding best practices.

  • Proven track record to drive cross-functional projects and influence product development priorities.

  • Strong background in stakeholder management, including gathering and incorporating customer or internal feedback.

  • Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and mentoring skills.
