As a Lab Support Technician, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting our cutting-edge labs and fostering collaboration between our Ottawa and India teams. How You Will Contribute:

• Answer and address lab support requests via the Lab Support line, troubleshooting infrastructure and equipment under design or test.
• Support lab user community issues, including reconfiguring Ciena Optical systems based on provided specifications.
• Investigate and resolve network infrastructure issues, ensuring seamless ethernet connectivity and terminal server access.
• Install software loads on Ciena equipment and troubleshoot failed circuit packs.
• Guide the lab user community on processes and best practices.
• Manage equipment within the lab, including installation, removal, relocation, inventory, and maintenance.
• Maintain accurate records of all support requests and ensure optical fibers are connected, cleaned, and functioning optimally.

The Must Haves:

• College Diploma as a Technician with proven experience in R&D lab management and support organizations (+).
• Extensive knowledge of R&D lab environments and strong working knowledge of Ciena Optical Products.
• Proficiency in corporate tools such as JIRA and GEMS.
• Ability to work core India hours which translates to 11:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m. EST in Ottawa.
• Commitment to following the Ciena India work schedule and vacation times.

Nice to Haves:

• Familiarity with troubleshooting advanced optical systems and signal sources.
• Experience in guiding teams on advanced lab configurations.
• Knowledge of software development environments and integration testing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in high-pressure scenarios.
• Ability to work collaboratively across global teams.
• Previous experience with telecom and networking equipment.
• Background in handling inventory management and lab logistics.

Pay Range:The hourly pay range for this position is $23.50/hr–$37.54/hr CAD. Night-shift premium will also be added.

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
