As a Data Platform SRE Analyst at Ciena, you will help strengthen the reliability, automation, and operational excellence of the data platforms that power critical analytics and business insights. This role offers the opportunity to grow from hands‑on platform operations into deeper Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and Data Ops practices, partnering closely with senior engineers and cross‑functional teams.

How you will make an impact:

• Support and enhance cloud and SaaS‑based data platforms including Snowflake, DBT, Fivetran, Informatica Cloud, Dataiku, business intelligence tools, and orchestration or governance solutions.
• Maintain configuration updates, access controls (role‑based access control), and environment readiness activities aligned with audit and policy expectations.
• Monitor platform health, pipeline status, data quality indicators, and failure alerts while collaborating with senior engineers to resolve operational issues.
• Improve and maintain runbooks, standard operating procedures, and operational workflows to ensure consistent, high‑quality internal support.
• Build and refine scripting with Python, SQL, or YAML to automate recurring activities and support operational efficiency.
• Contribute to incident response, disaster‑recovery exercises, and resiliency initiatives that fortify platform stability.
• Track platform usage, performance, and cost metrics to support optimization efforts and reporting.

The must haves:

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant IT experience.
• Foundational knowledge of Amazon Web Services and familiarity with Azure or Google Cloud.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational data concepts.
• Understanding of incident triage, monitoring, and change‑management processes.
• Exposure to Python or shell scripting with interest in expanding automation skills.
• Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration abilities.

Nice to haves:

• Experience with Snowflake, DBT, Informatica Cloud, Fivetran, Dataiku, or business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Looker.
• Exposure to DevOps practices, continuous integration/continuous delivery, or version control using Git.
• Understanding of data pipelines, data‑quality management, and batch or streaming data processes.
• Familiarity with observability frameworks, monitoring tools, or log‑analytics platforms.
