Position Summary:

The role of Security Officer is to operate with the day-to-day operation and long-term outlook of the safety and security department.

The Radisson Downtown Salt Lake City,is looking for an energetic individual to add to our Security Team as a Security Officer.

Safety & Security Tasks (40%)

  • Conduct routine inspections of the loading dock and employee parking areas prior to each scheduled shift to ensure cleanliness and removal of trash and debris.

  • Investigate loading dock cleanliness violations and provide timely follow-up with responsible departments.

  • Respond immediately to all emergency situations and take appropriate action to safeguard guests, employees, and hotel assets.

  • Review accident investigations to ensure reports are accurate, complete, and properly documented.

  • Conduct regular patrols of the property to ensure all areas remain safe and secure.

  • Identify, report, and address potential safety and security risks.

Team Development (40%)

  • Orient new employees to the Security department and hotel operations.

  • Provide on-the-job training related to security responsibilities and procedures.

  • Ensure all security staff are fully trained and proficient in all parking applications.

  • Assist staff with parking system operations, including server reset procedures, clearing ticket jams, gate reprogramming, and supply audits.

  • Promote a proactive approach to property security while maintaining a strong focus on customer care and support.

  • Maintain positive, professional working relationships with all hotel departments and external vendors.

Leadership Role (20%)

  • Promote daily security awareness and provide security-related training to management and line-level staff.

  • Act as a liaison to hotel management and guests in the absence of the Security Manager or Director of Security.

  • Meet regularly with the Area Director of Facilities.

  • Attend event Pre-Cons as required.

  • Take an active leadership role within the Security team and the Safety Committee.

Requirement/Skills

  • High School graduate required
  • Associates/Bachelor's Degree or equivalent preferred (additional training e.g. military, law enforcement and education is highly desirable)
  • Ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year security experience
  • Experience with MS Office applications and Outlook required
  • Previous work experience should include working in a high-volume environment, as well as customer-service oriented atmosphere
  • Demonstrates strong verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Works well independently or as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Commitment to exceptional guest service
  • A positive attitude
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of the hotel

Physical Demands

  • Perform repetitive hand and arm movements
  • Ability to lift, pull, push up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to squat, bend, kneel and twist
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to see, hear, speak, read and write legibly
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling
  • Frequent sitting, standing and walking, which may be required for long periods of time up to 8 hours
  • Duties may involve climbing stair and walking inclines or uneven terrain

The hotel business functions seven days a week, 24 hours a day. All associates must realize this fact and be aware that at all times it may be necessary to move associates from their accustomed shift and alter assigned duties as business dictates.
