Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Senior Legal Counsel through** 03/24/2026** at 11:59 p.m
Key Responsibilities:
Provide legal support across various departments -among others- Operations, Procurement, Public Affairs, HR, HES, handling regulatory compliance, drafting and negotiating contracts, managing litigation relationship with external counsel, and ensuring protection of company interests in all matters and especially on government and contractor ones. Provide support in social responsibility issues, claim management, and internal policy implementation.
Legal advice to all different areas of the Company and its affiliates.
The Senior Legal Counsel position is based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Responsibilities include legal counsel and guidance to the various departments on all matters, including but not limited to:
Provide legal support to the Operations Team in the day-to-day business, including different types of regulatory issues
Provide legal support to the Public Affairs Department in relation to social investment and social responsibility matters
Support the management of claims made by and against Chevron Argentina, including interaction with external counsel assisting in local litigation matters
Participate in any matter including government related ones to ensure the protection of the property and interests of the Company, including support on promotional tax and investments regimes.
Assist the commercial team with the drafting and negotiation of confidentiality agreements, transportation, and oil & gas sales agreements.
Preparation, negotiation and interpretation of agreements between Chevron and its partners, including concession and exploration/exploitation agreements signed between Chevron and Federal State/Provinces.
Interpretation of the Argentina hydrocarbon law and all associated legislation and regulations.
Compliance with local laws and legal formalities.
Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and Business Conduct & Ethics Code.
Ongoing development and implementation of Chevron Argentina’s internal policies, procedures, and compliance programs.
Local labor law matters and HR support.
Environmental matters including analysis on decommissioning and abandonment activities.
Provide legal support to the Procurement Department regarding contracting and procurement activities, including counsel related to risk management, to ensure compliance with applicable laws, company policies, and procedures.
Assist the commercial team with the drafting and negotiation of confidentiality agreements, petroleum & gas sales agreements, including oil and gas transportation and processing agreements.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in law and postgraduate study.
- +10 years of experience practicing law preferably in very well-known law firms and at least 5 years advising to Upstream Oil & Gas business or in-house positions in E&P companies.
- Thorough understanding of legal, operational and commercial issues related to the Upstream Oil & Gas business. Flexibility to travel to the field depending on business needs.
- Fluent in Spanish and English (speaking and writing)
- Ability to deliver business-oriented, cost-effective legal advice to in-house clients on a timely basis.
- Demonstrated excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills. Strong team orientation with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Relocation is not offered for this role.
International Considerations:
Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
