Senior Subsea Pipeline Engineer

About the position
The Subsea Pipeline Engineer is part of the Subsea, Civil, and Marine Engineering Team within the Chevron ENGINE Center. This role supports Chevron's Upstream Major Capital Projects and Base Business includes crucial tasks such as performing and overseeing subsea pipeline design, designing and implementing remediation and replacement work, performing life extension and integrity management assessments, revising technical specifications, and reviewing construction & installation analysis and procedures It also involves performing design assurance and providing consulting services from concept selection to project execution and during operating stage. This role ensures seamless interfaces, strong quality management, comprehensive integrity and conditioning management, and efficient and safe pipeline execution and operations.
Key responsibilities
· Provides advanced design verification support for Chevron projects worldwide, assisting with pipeline concept development, pre-FEED, FEED, risk assessments, detailed design, procurements, fabrication, qualification testing, installation, pre-commissioning, and creating integrity management plans to ensure reliable pipeline systems.
· Support and managing bidding processes, evaluating contractor proposals, assessing their technical capabilities, and supervising their execution when necessary.
· Assist in pre-FEED and FEED pipeline efforts and conducting both regular and advanced analyses, covering shallow and deepwater scenarios, including rigid and flexible pipeline systems designed for a wide spectrum of design conditions, including corrosive fluids, mid high pressure/temperature oil, large gas, and export functions.
· Review and develop technical specifications, provide clarifications and exceptions to supplier and contractors and oversee design, manufacturing and installation plans. Maintaining and improving Chevron pipeline-related specifications, consolidating lessons learnt.
· Participate in innovation, technology development and deployment, and continuous improvement in pipeline systems. It requires engaging in cross-disciplinary collaboration, participating in industry technical bodies, and influencing industry standards and best practices.
· Supports risk evaluations, implementing mitigation and remediation strategies, including life extension and root cause assessment, and fostering a culture focused on safety, reliability, and efficiency.
About you
10 yrs relevant industry experience in the design, engineering, analysis, manufacture, installation and operation of subsea pipelines and associated equipment (rigid and flexibles). Good understanding of all pipeline interfacing systems and associated disciplines.
Required Qualifications
· Experience in reviewing Design basis, performing and interpreting analyses results, Installation, maintenance and operation procedures for subsea pipelines (rigid and flexibles).
· Demonstrated understanding of pipe capacity, basis of acceptance criteria, analysis, impact of limiting states, buckling and fatigue behaviours during installation, operation VIV, wave motion, etc
· Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of pipeline related industry codes and standards along with lessons learned and best practices to the work related to subsea pipelines and f lowlines.
· Demonstrated familiarity and use of relevant subsea pipeline software that includes Orcaflex, Offpipe, DnV and relevant engineering programs.
· Demonstrated advanced knowledge of Finite Element Analyses and either ANSYS or ABAQUS programs applied to pipeline engineering.
· Involved in the development of new technologies, able to identify the risks in their potential applications, developed the appropriate risk management strategies, and participated in the commercialization and deployment processes.
